These functions give guests the opportunity to taste wines that are made with conscious care for people and the planet, and to chat with the people behind the brands to learn about the environmentally and socially responsible practices they use.

For wine brands, getting face to face with customers offers a platform to connect over shared values and raise brand awareness.

“For us, having our wines SIP Certified is easily the best way to let our entire audience know we are sincere about doing the right thing for the health of our vineyards, customers, and employees,” says Adam LaZarre, Broadside’s Director of Winemaking. “I know for a fact that this is a huge selling point for our wines.”

The decision to get Broadside wines SIP Certified offers Lazarre opportunities in the media: “For us, it’s been an extra paragraph or two in the magazines or another five minutes on the radio.”

Any wine made with at least 85% SIP Certified fruit (estate or purchased) can apply to put the SIP Certified logo on the bottle. The application process is handled online through the SIP Certified database. Applicants upload their winemaking records and type notes directly to their application for third-party review.

The SIP Certified program is renowned for its rigorous standards that touch every level of the business, from soil health to social equity. Adherence to the standards is third-party verified, instilling confidence that a winegrower’s practices are environmentally and socially sustainable.

Sustainability in Practice (SIP) Certified is one of the wine industry’s oldest and most important third-party programs. It utilizes a block-to-bottle, integrated approach to management, enabling farmers, wineries and winemakers to preserve the environment and protect human resources.

SIP Certified boasts strict, non-negotiable requirements and standards based on science, expert input, independent verification, transparency and the absence of conflict of interest.
