Michel Rolland Introduces Clos de los Siete 2021 Vintage as the Brand’s 20th Anniversary Bottling

July 18, 2024 — Clos de los Siete’s (C7) renowned Winemaker and Master Blender Michel Rolland, is thrilled to introduce Clos de los Siete’s 2021 vintage to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary. Like the vintages before it, the 2021 vintage of C7 is a Malbec-driven Bordeaux blend that bridges New and Old World winemaking.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the 2021 vintage embodies the essence of the unique terroir of Argentina’s Uco Valley. The combination of altitude, climate, and soil composition imparts a distinctive character to the wine, capturing the spirit of the Andes Mountains and the rich winemaking heritage of Bordeaux.

The varietal composition of C7 changes each year, making each vintage an original. This particularly distinctive and warm harvest enabled Malbec to stand out from the other grape varieties, as can be seen in the final blend; 59% Malbec, 15% Merlot, 13% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot. The 2021 vintage has a deep, glittering ruby color and a fresh aroma profile, with notes of blackberry, red fruit and wild herbs. On the palate, the elegant combination of rich body weight with medium plus concentration and seductive acidity, adds freshness and liveliness, and promises excellent potential for aging.

Michel Rolland partnered with six other French families in the early 1980’s to purchase Clos de los Siete,or “Vineyard of Seven” in the renowned Uco Valley of Argentina at the base of the Andes Mountains. The partnership allowed the site to remain whole, and today it is recognized as one of the most magnificent single vineyards in the Uco Valley, encompassing 2,100 acres subdivided into seven holdings. Four of the seven original families contribute grapes from select parcels to the C7 blend: Monteviejo, Cuvelier Los Andes, DiamAndes and Bodega Rolland. True to its origins, C7 is a Malbec driven Bordeaux blend that bridges New and Old World winemaking with profound inspiration.

The 2021 vintage of C7 retails for $21.99 and will officially roll out on shelves nationwide this summer and online at wine.com and totalwine.com.
