Piedmont’s Montalbera Celebrates “Il Fondatore” Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva 2021, a Tribute to Monferrato and the Winery’s Founder

Montalbera presents “Il Fondatore” Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva 2021, a tribute to the winery’s founder, Enrico Riccardo Morando, a pioneer of the Monferrato wine region.

Castagnole Monferrato, Piedmont, June 25, 2024 – Montalbera, the world’s largest producer of Ruchè wine, proudly introduces its latest label, “Il Fondatore” Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva 2021. The new release honors the legacy of Enrico Riccardo Morando, who founded the estate in 1983, and symbolizes the winery’s longstanding and unwavering dedication to enhancing Piedmont’s indigenous grape varieties.

On June 21 and 22, 2024, “Il Fondatore” Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato Riserva DOCG 2021 was presented and celebrated in style by dynamic entrepreneur and General Manager Franco Morando as well as Montalbera’s winemaker Nino Falcone. This iconic wine, dedicated to Franco’s grandfather, not only represents a powerful expression of Ruchè but also pays tribute to Montalbera’s remarkable history and rich winemaking tradition.

The two-day event saw participation from local and national press, representatives from regional institutions, six mayors, including President of the Province and Mayor of Asti Maurizio Rasero, and various prominent figures from the Piedmontese economic and social entrepreneurship sectors, along with commercial directors and buyers. The celebration underscored the passion of a family that, generation after generation, continues to work towards revitalizing and enhancing the Monferrato region. The event also marked the beginning of a new chapter for the winery, which has recently invested in transforming Montalbera into a luxury wine tourism destination, offering activities such as yoga in the barrel cellar, vineyard trekking, and thoughtfully curated dinners designed to complement the wines crafted in Montalbera’s cellars.

“We are grateful for the incredible response to this label, both from our loyal followers and from those who are just discovering this special native variety through our winer,” says Franco Morando. “We consider ourselves spokespeople for the Ruchè grape and are constantly striving to communicate the magnificent beauty of the Monferrato region. This is precisely why we are working towards transforming Montalbera into an oasis of true well-being surrounded by our vineyards, highlighting the natural beauty of this area.”
