Scheid Family Wines launches VDR Cabernet Sauvignon, an extension of its VDR (Very Dark Red) brand
Salinas, CA – June 18, 2024 – All hail the newest addition to the award-winning VDR line-up: a bold, new take on Cabernet Sauvignon, the king of California red wines.
“We’re excited to introduce Cabernet Sauvignon into the VDR portfolio,” says Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President. “In true VDR style, it’s dark, bold and smooth, with an easygoing palate. Sourced from our estate vineyards, it’s a serious wine with an irreverent personality, more about connecting with today’s consumer through humor and attitude versus talking about micro-climates and soil type.”
VDR Cabernet Sauvignon’s inaugural 2021 vintage ascends the throne with strong critical acclaim: 90 Points from Wine Enthusiast and 92 Points from The Tasting Panel. Approachable and fruit-forward, this wine is crafted by Winemaker Ellie Loustalot to please the palate. Deeply colored and flavored, it commands attention with its rich, juicy, dark fruit flavors, velvety tannins, firm structure and smooth finish. Sourced from coastal vineyards ideally suited to growing naturally plush and expressive fruit, this wine breaks from tradition with the inclusion of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, adding supple structure and swagger to the blend.
VDR’s package exudes the same attitude as the wine: bold and confident with alluring, luxurious details.
VDR’s “Notorious C.A.B.” point-of-sale campaign, created in partnership with agency HEARD Creative, positions VDR as heir to the Cabernet throne, with an array of creative assets designed to cheekily elevate its appeal and visibility.
VDR Cabernet Sauvignon is currently available to ship nationwide, as is VDR Proprietary Red Blend. Scheid Family Wines invites you to experience a wine that is memorable on the first sip, unforgettable on the last.
