Novato, CA, May 28, 2024 – Cabernet Corp. of Novato, CA, is thrilled to announce its partnership with Clark Estate Winery from New Zealand. Cabernet Corp. imports a range of specialty wines from Chile and Argentina and has recently expanded its portfolio to include selections from New Zealand.

Peter and Jane Clark’s journey from England to the Awatere Valley, New Zealand, is more than a tale of relocation; it’s a narrative of pioneering spirit in the Awatere Valley. Leaving behind their careers, the Clarks embarked on an adventure in viticulture in 1998, when the region was largely untouched by major wine companies.

Undeterred by the challenges, the Clarks planted the seeds of what would become Clark Estate, a family business that flourished against the odds. Their son, Simon soon became the head winemaker while their daughter, Sarah took charge of sales and marketing. Their commitment to quality and sustainability led to the prestigious accreditation of Sustainable Wine Growing New Zealand, positioning them as leaders in ethical winemaking practices.

Among their esteemed portfolio, Riverside Terrace Sauvignon Blanc stands as a beacon of their craftsmanship. Harvested at the break of dawn to capture the essence of the Awatere Valley’s unique microclimate and soil, this Sauvignon Blanc embodies the harmonious marriage of terroir and artistry. The soils in the vineyard are very stoney with little loam. As a result, the vines crop much lower yields and therefore ripen flavors much earlier than the sugars can accumulate. These wines will naturally have lower alcohol content of 11.5% and the Riverside Terrace Sauvignon Blanc fills a niche in the market for those seeking a lighter option without compromising on flavor or character. Its nuanced profile, characterized by notes of green apple, mango, and lemon peel, is a testament to the Clarks’ meticulous attention to detail.

Renowned wine critic Sam Kim of Wine Orbit attests to its excellence, awarding it an impressive 95 points and 5 stars. Kim describes it as “wonderfully fruited and immediately appealing,” with an “intensely flavorsome palate displaying excellent vibrancy and persistency,” recommending it for enjoyment from now until 2026.

As the global demand for low-alcohol wine continues to surge, Clark Estate remains at the forefront of innovation, offering consumers a better-for-you option without compromising on taste or quality. Riverside Terrace Sauvignon Blanc stands as a testament to their commitment to excellence and sustainability, inviting wine enthusiasts to embark on a journey of flavor and conscience.

Eric Axelsen, President of Cabernet Corp. said, “We are thrilled to expand our portfolio with Clark Estate. This partnership reflects our commitment to offering a diverse selection of exceptional wines.”  For more information, please visit www.cabernetcorp.com.
