Montalbera’s Luxury Wine Retreat in Piedmont’s Monferrato, Featuring Exclusive Suites, a Summer Terrace, Jacuzzis, Vineyard Activities, and More

At Piedmont’s Montalbera, luxury wine tourism meets the Dolce Vita lifestyle, featuring a new panoramic terrace with Jacuzzis, trekking and cycling routes through the vineyards, yoga in the barrel cellar, an open-air cinema, and exclusive suites amidst the rolling Monferrato hills.

In the lush wine lands of southern Piedmont, the Montalbera estate welcomes summer with a new panoramic terrace for guests at its Luxury Wine Suites, complete with two Jacuzzis overlooking the estate’s vineyards. Conceptualized by CEO Franco Morando, the project reflects Montalbera’s continuous dedication to promoting Ruchè wine and enhancing luxury tourism in Piedmont, in line with the estate’s innovative spirit.

Castagnole Monferrato, Piedmont, May 23, 2024 – In the heart of the Monferrato hills in southern Piedmont, Montalbera gears up for summer with the opening of a new 120 m2 terrace, featuring sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards, various relaxation areas, and two Jacuzzis in an ode to the Dolce Vita Lifestyle. This new wellness oasis is designed for guests at the estate’s four Luxury Wine Suites, providing a unique wine tourism destination at one of Monferrato’s most important and historic wine estates, renowned for its Ruchè and other indigenous grapes.

Franco Morando, CEO of Montalbera, underscores the importance of this recent upgrade, not only as a way of celebrating the prestige of the area and its wines, but also in terms of offering visitors something different: «Montalbera has always embraced innovation and foresight, ever since my grandfather founded the estate, considering our role in the resurgence of the Ruchè grape. Today, the potential of Monferrato as a destination not only for wine but also for luxury tourism has yet to be approached comprehensively and communicated effectively. In this sense, our Luxury Wine Tourism project aims to promote not only the wines of this wonderful region, but also the luxurious natural environment in which we are located».

Luxury Wine Suites, Jacuzzis, and the terrace surrounded by vineyards.

A light summer breeze, soft pillows, and a breathtaking sunset view, all accompanied by a cool glass of sparkling wine, such as the Pas Dosè 120 + 1, 100% Pinot Noir Metodo Classico, or the Cuvée Rosé made from native black grapes of Piedmont, or perhaps even a white, like the crisp Calypsos Viognier Piedmont DOC. This is how summer begins on Montalbera’s new cobblestoned terrace, surrounded by an amphitheater of vines and hazelnut groves, with views that stretch over the historic village of Montemagno to the east and the winery’s lake to the west. The estate’s new and exclusive summer retreat features sunny relaxation areas and well-shaded gazebos, as well as two saltwater Jacuzzis heated to a constant temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Every detail follows the concept of natural luxury and Franco Morando’s vision of space, light, and order. The four spacious Luxury Wine Suites, furnished in a modern and elegant style, offer a variety of options: King with balcony, King Superior, King Deluxe, and Queen Superior, all featuring comfortable and elegant interiors characterized by grays, velvets, upholstered beds, and freestanding bathtubs. But Montalbera’s ambitious luxury wine project has its sights set on the future: an infinity pool floating above the vineyards is in the making for summer 2025, further enhancing the Montalbera guest experience.

Trekking, cycling and other immersive experiences in the vineyard and cellar

Staying at Montalbera means immersing yourself in an experience that combines tradition, adventure, and relaxation in one of Italy’s most fascinating wine regions, Monferrato. Guests can enjoy various wine tastings, focusing especially on Ruchè, a rare indigenous variety and the protagonist in Montalbera’s history. These include “Il Fondatore” Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, a tribute to the winery’s founder, Enrico Riccardo Morando, as well as “Laccento” Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, accompanied by charcuterie boards featuring local products, taking visitors on a sensory journey through the flavors of Monferrato. For adventure lovers, Montalbera offers several active experiences to explore its 115 hectares of vineyards: trekking, with trails through the estate on foot, cycling along a bike route equipped with QR codes, and quad biking for thrill seekers. For romantics, a retro-style Vespa tour through the Monferrato hills is a must. To unwind, the winery offers yoga sessions in the barrel cellar or on the terrace, either at sunset or early mornings. Horseback riding through the vineyards is also offered. Back at the Wine Suites, Montalbera’s guests can enjoy several exclusive services, such as an in-house tailor, massages using the Renata França method, and various in-room wellness treatments. Lastly, to fully experience Piedmont’s Dolce Vita lifestyle, Montalbera offers an outdoor cinema for movie nights under the stars, set within the natural beauty of Monferrato.

Surrounded by an amphitheater of vineyards and hazelnut groves in Piedmont’s Monferrato, with a secondary estate in the heart of the Langhe, Montalbera has been the largest producer of Ruchè since 1983. Today, Montalbera is led by Franco Morando, CEO and General Manager, who continues to invest in the region’s native grapes while offering new luxury suites and unique wine experiences in the cellar, vineyard, and surrounding countryside.
