Lecavalier Cellars Set to Open New Tasting Room in Placer County

Grand Opening of Newcastle Tasting Room Planned for May 22

NEWCASTLE, Calif. (May 14, 2024) – Placer County’s newest winery, Lecavalier Cellars, is planning to officially open its new tasting room in Newcastle on May 22. Conveniently located off I-80 and the Newcastle Road exit, the tasting room is easily accessible from the Greater Sacramento Region, San Francisco Bay Area, Central Valley and Lake Tahoe. The tasting room will be open Wednesday to Sunday each week.

Lecavalier Cellars was founded by friends who share an enthusiasm for wine and a passion for innovation. The winery is on a mission to reimagine every aspect of how to create, deliver and enjoy wine.

“I have long had a passion for wine and wanted to explore how you can marry science and art to create the truest expression of the fruit,” said Co-founder Mike Fournier, a Granite Bay resident and former aerospace engineer. “At the same time, I wanted to push the boundaries of technology and innovation to create the most sustainable experience for those who will enjoy our wines. The opening of our Lecavalier Cellars tasting room is the first step on that journey.”

Visitors to Lecavalier Cellars will have a chance to taste wines sourced from some of California’s best vineyards as well as from its own estate vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. Each wine is intended to elevate the regions in which they are grown.

The wines are crafted by Winemaker Steve Leveque, who has 25 years of luxury winemaking experience at some of the top estates in the Napa Valley. Each wine is made in a state-of-the-art winery in Placer County, where Mike and his team have re-designed most of the equipment to help the winemaking team develop the truest expression of the fruit.

Visitors will also experience the patented, recyclable bottles created by Mike and his team.

“Sustainability is so important to us that we designed our own bottle with glue-less labels and a cork holder on the bottom of the bottle to facilitate the return of the cork with the bottle,” said Branden Delucchi, General Manager. “All of our packaged materials were created with the intention of either recycling or reusing. Our plan is to collect and accept all the packaging materials that are given to our customers upon sale. The only thing we don’t want back is the wine.”

Lecavalier has also created a sustainable local wine delivery system to its Sacramento area customers in electric vehicles. It plans to expand this service to other regions as it grows.

Wine lovers can book tasting reservations online now or place a wine order for local delivery via the Lecavalier Cellars website. Two exclusive tastings will be offered – all red wines or a mix of red and white – to give visitors a chance to experience the best of Lecavalier Cellars.
