Invitation to Participate in Study Helping Americans Understand Longer-term Effects of Americans’ Emotional Health
2024, 1 May – (Healdsburg, CA) Gracianna Winery, a resilient family-owned winery on the “Miracle Mile” of Westside Road in Healdsburg, along with research partner Dr. Philip Watkins, professor of psychology and expert in gratitude at Eastern Washington University, announce the third installment of a multi-year survey—one of its kind—about the current and future effects of gratitude on Americans.
Gracianna and Eastern Washington University invites everyone to take the survey which takes roughly 5 minutes. The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/683DR9J.
Initially launched during the COVID pandemic of 2020, the survey found that Americans hungered for things to be grateful for in a time of difficulty, and saw that the prospect of having future gratitude (the idea that they will have something to be grateful for in the future) helped power them through crises such as the pandemic, war overseas, domestic social inequities and violence and a highly-charged and exhausting political climate.
The study team repeated the survey in 2022 to measure the longer-term effects of the crises on emotional health and found that Americans are still on whole a society that highly values gratitude more than any other positive emotion even in the face of an overall decline in gratitude, primarily due to collective anxiety.
This third installment aims to explore if there have been any changes in the gratitude model since its launch four years ago. Specifically, it seeks to determine if Americans are experiencing more, less, or the same level of gratitude in their lives. This 2024 survey is a crucial component to the overall long-term study that continues to reveal important findings for those interested in tracking Americans’ psyche in the context of gratitude and how it applies to our activities, our work, our relationships and our lives.
