Masterclass, Gastronomic Pairings and DJ Set

The Garda DOC Consortium at Vinitaly 2024

Sommacampagna (Verona) April 11th 2024 – A lemon house evokes the typical landscape of Lake Garda, its light, its scents: the Garda DOC Consortium presents itself to producers, distributors, industry experts, journalists, and wine enthusiasts from around the world at Vinitaly, scheduled at the Verona Fair from April 14th to 17th. Activities for the general public and for the press will take place at Exterior Pad. 5 Stand 1, along with two press conferences.

“An intense and articulated schedule – emphasizes the President of the Garda DOC Consortium Paolo Fiorini – aimed at telling the Denomination through the narrative of its excellence. Tastings, focuses, and pairings are designed to offer wine enthusiasts a ‘preview’ of all the cultural and gastronomic experiences of our wonderful territory, which the DOC interprets and narrates.”

“Every year, 24 million people pass through the territory of the great lake – adds Carlo Alberto Panont, Director of the Garda DOC Consortium – and among these, more than 13 million stay. These are important numbers, and as a Consortium, we strongly believe in the ability of our Denomination to create a strong combination of economic excellence for a Garda lifestyle between tourism and wine.”

Every day, from 12 pm to 2:30 pm, Chef Federico Pelizzari will offer tastings of dishes made with quality ingredients from the territory: Varzi DOP salami, Montasio DOP cheese, and Cuneo DOP raw ham (reserved for the press and operators), naturally paired with Garda DOC wines. And from Sunday to Tuesday, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm, there will be entertainment with an exceptional DJ Set.

On Sunday, April 14th, at 4:30 pm, the Masterclass “Lake Garda and its wines” is scheduled at the Veneto Pavilion Stand (Pad.4 D4/E4): the meeting, which is part of a series of events aimed at promoting Veneto wines with Designation of Origin, will offer participants the opportunity to take part in a guided tasting.

On Monday, April 15th, at 11:30 am at the DOC Garda Stand, the press conference for the project “DOP Excellences: A Truly European Savoir-Faire” is scheduled, dedicated to the synergistic collaboration between the Garda DOC, Varzi DOP Salami, Cuneo DOP Raw Ham, and Montasio DOP cheese Consortia, co-financed by the European Union. On Tuesday, April 16th, at 11:30 am, the “Garda Wine Stories” Press Conference is scheduled, during which the press trip planned for June, aimed at Italian and foreign journalists, will be illustrated.

THE GARDA DOC CONSORTIUM

A hilly territory with unique landscape characteristics, between Lombardy and Veneto, protected by mountains and overlooking Italy’s largest basin: here, between the provinces of Brescia, Mantua, and Verona, lies the Garda DOC, a viticultural production area where special climatic conditions have shaped over time the qualities of the different grape varieties that grow there and still determine their peculiarities. Recognized for the first time in 1996 with the aim of enhancing the varietal wines produced in the 10 historic production areas of the Garda region, the DOC Garda is a denomination guided by a strong spirit of innovation, capable over the years of evolving according to the needs of consumers, while respecting a product that has very ancient origins here. Having obtained ministerial recognition in 2015 and operating erga omnes since 2016, today the Garda Doc Consortium represents 250 users of the denomination, giving voice to and promoting one of the most precious enogastronomic excellences of Italy.
