April 5th – The Craft Wine Association (CWA) is recruiting to fill nine seats on its inaugural Advisory Council. The council members will play a significant role in assisting the Association in creating and prioritizing its future policy agenda aimed at supporting small and mid-sized wineries’ ability to expand direct to consumers sales and direct sales to trade partners.
Advisory Council Members will join a group of veteran industry thought leaders dedicated to securing the rights of craft producers while simultaneously elevating their own influence within the industry and giving members the opportunity to create a more equitable industry landscape for the next generation of wine professionals.
A complete overview of the new Advisory Council and membership will be discussed at the CWA’s next meeting on April 10th, at 1 pm Pacific Time, 4 pm Eastern Time. The Advisory Council application window will close the following week, with selections made soon thereafter.
Please RSVP to join the CWA at its upcoming meeting here: https://craftwine.org/events/#
Advisory Council Objectives:
- Educate Policymakers: Highlighting the adverse effects of the current three-tier system and advocating for a fairer competitive landscape for U.S. producers against imported products.
- Increase Awareness: Addressing the knowledge gap amongst officials regarding restrictive laws hindering small producers’ direct sales and the adverse effects of anti-competitive legislation.
- Promote a Three-Channel System: Advancing a modernized approach to alcohol distribution that includes Direct to Consumer, Self-Distribution, as well as the traditional wholesale channel, ensuring equitable competition and bridging the gap created by the existing process. “Your support and active participation are crucial in our ongoing efforts to modernize the industry and advocate for the fair treatment of craft producers,” said CWA Advocacy Group Chairman Steven Harrison. “Joining the Advisory Council represents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and help shape the future of our industry.”
