March 25, 2024 — Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) announces the passing of company partner, Alan Dreeben. With nearly five decades of industry experience, Alan was pivotal in shaping RNDC’s growth trajectory. From his humble beginnings at Gallo Winery to his instrumental role in the formation of Republic National, Alan’s journey was marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Dreeben began his career path in 1966, working for the Gallo Winery. He was part of a pioneering leadership training program and reported directly to Ernest Gallo, the company’s founder. Similarly, he played a vital role in RNDC’s growth serving as vice chairman and director, followed by his continued involvement as a partner of RNDC even after he retired in 2020.

Throughout his career, Dreeben demonstrated an exemplary adherence to both his professional endeavors and his community. His leadership extended far beyond the boardroom, as evidenced by his involvement in numerous charitable organizations and educational initiatives, including bringing the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) certification to the United States.

His tireless advocacy for causes close to his heart, from healthcare to mentorship to education, serves as a testament to his generous spirit and his deep-seeded belief in giving back. This was reflected in the several boards he led, including the Wine Market Council’s Executive Committee – of which he was a past Chairman – and the Wine Advisory Committee of the Texas Department of Agriculture. He also served as Chairman of the board for Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America.

“As we mourn the loss of Alan Dreeben, let us also celebrate his remarkable legacy and the countless lives he touched. His impact on RNDC and the wider industry was immeasurable and will continue to inspire us for years to come,” said Nick Mehall, RNDC President and CEO. “On behalf of the entire RNDC family, I extend our deepest condolences to Alan’s beloved wife, Barbara, his children, grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved him.”
