Pair wine, chocolate coffee with a side of jazz on Jan. 13

SUTTON’S BAY, MICH. (Jan. 10, 2024) – As winter takes hold, Executive Winemaker Kasey Wierzba and the team at Shady Lane Cellars find they’re gravitating toward the most comforting treats – wine, chocolate and coffee.

They’ve come up with a way to share that warm cozy feeling with visitors to the Tasting Room. This January, Shady Lane Cellars will collaborate with local purveyors Nativo by Thrivu chocolate and Panther Coffee to offer a special one-night tasting event.

The Vices: Wine, Chocolate, Coffee will be 4-6 p.m. January 13 at Shady Lane Cellars, 9580 E. Shady Lane in Suttons Bay.

“The experts will guide us through a tasting while sharing stories about their craft and passion,” said Wierzba. “We already work with Thrivu and Panther Coffee, so combining it all into this special evening seemed like a very good idea. It gives attendees a chance to learn more about our 3 favorite vices.”

An afternoon of tasting through three Shady Lane Cellars’ wines, followed by three chocolate samples and three coffee samples. Each purveyor will speak briefly about the offerings, giving guests plenty of time to sample, mingle and enjoy live jazz by Swingbone.

Wierzba said Shady Lane Cellars will highlight the following wines:

  • Gewurztraminer:  Expect notes of star fruit, lychee and citrus blossom with undertones of spice. It is dry in style.
  • Pinot Noir Rose: Think summer berries with a spritz of orange zest, leading into a creamy, taffy finish.
  • Reserve Franc n’ Franc: Rich red and blue fruits mingle with balanced tannins, followed by a warm baking spice finish.

The kitchen will remain open until 7 p.m., serving small plates and soup for an extra charge.

Tickets are $35 for Three Vices: Wine, Chocolate, Coffee and a Side of Jazz. Learn more and find tickets at ShadyLaneCellars.com.
