Marchesi Antinori will directly import its wines in US:
January 8th – Marchesi Antinori will import its wines directly to the United States through the establishment of a new company, Vinattieri 1385, effective January 1, 2024.
The name of the company celebrates the ancient roots of Marchesi Antinori, one of the most historical and renowned wine families in the world.
“The word “vinattieri” means “vintners”. This new reality honors a milestone in the history of our family, the first step in the wine business, when my direct ancestor Giovanni di Piero became a member of the “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri”, the Florentine Vintners’ Guild, in 1385. Our family’s values and philosophy, as well as our heritage, will represent the pillars of Vinattieri 1385. This is one of the most important chapters in our history, together with the acquisition of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars,” said Piero Antinori, Honorary President at Marchesi Antinori.
All throughout its history, twenty-six generations long, the Antinori family has managed the business directly, making innovative and sometimes bold decisions while upholding the utmost respect for traditions and the environment.
This important new chapter is closely linked to the recent acquisition of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars: “this changed the size of our business in the US to the extent that we decided to change our distribution model,” said Renzo Cotarella, CEO at Marchesi Antinori. “By creating Vinattieri 1385, a company that will import all our wines into the US and market them together with the wines of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, we become masters of our destiny in the most important market in the world. Vinattieri 1385 simultaneously honors tradition and embraces innovation to bring world-class wines to consumer glasses”.
The new company will be managed by Paolo Battegazzore as Chief Executive Officer, an experienced Italian Manager with great expertise in the US Market.
Vinatteri 1385 will be fully operative by January 2024.
