Prowein 2024 – Champagne for Future: Pioneer for Sustainability Initiatives in the Champagne Region

December 14th – ProWein, the world’s leading wine and spirits trade fair, will highlight the extensive sustainability initiatives in the Champagne region and provide them with an appropriate stage. As part of a highlight route, the upcoming ProWein (March 10 – 12, 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany)  will focus on selected Champagne producers and their current sustainability initiatives. This is the third time that the world-renowned French growing region will be in the spotlight at ProWein. In 2021, the trade fair already decided to develop a tailor-made program for the Champagne segment – presented by influencer Valentino Pusnava, known for his Instagram channel Winemob, Champagne Ambassador and ProWein Trend Scout.

The Champagne sector has long been synonymous with luxury and celebrations, but with consumers’ increasing environmental awareness, sustainability has become a pressing concern for producers in the region. Focusing on key initiatives and challenges, Champagne producers are now actively charting a sharper course to a more sustainable future. The stipulated commitments include five key performance criteria:

  • achieving 100% environmental certification
  • reducing the carbon footprint
  • promoting circularity
  • maintaining biodiversity
  • reducing the water footprint

“We very much look forward to presenting the sustainability initiatives in the Champagne region at the forthcoming ProWein,” emphasized Valentino Pusnava and added: “’Champagne For Future’ is the ideal platform for showcasing the commitment of this industry towards a sustainable future.”
