Italy’s Authority on Food and Wine Releases 37th Edition of Annual Vini D’Italia Wine Guide

Gambero Rosso Selects the Very Best Italian Wines for the 2024 Edition of Vini D’Italia

ROME, Italy (December 4, 2023) – Italian media company Gambero Rosso has released the 37th edition of its highly anticipated Vini D’Italia guide. Considered to be the ultimate authority on the best Italian wines, the latest guide is available in Italian, English, Chinese and Japanese on Apple and Amazon – its release comes in advance of Gambero Rosso’s annual, invitation-only U.S. Tre Bicchieri and Top Italian Roadshow tours.

This year’s edition features a curated review of 2,647 wineries and a total of 25, 231 wines compiled by some 60 tasters who traveled throughout the country – led by the guide’s Editor-In-Chief, Marco Sabellico. Wines are evaluated using Gambero Rosso’s bicchieri rating–or glass ranking–with the Tre Bicchieri (three glasses) rating reserved for just the top wines from that vintage. The 37th guide is reflective of an excellent release year, with 498 wines attaining the coveted Tre Bicchieri recognition. The guide provides readers with essential information about each producer, including their most important labels as well as what the wines retail for at enotecas throughout Italy.

“As the landscape of Italian wine shifts, the Vini d’Italia guide continues to reshape itself, disrupting the hierarchies of Italian wine and viniculture,” says Lorenzo Ruggeri, co-editor of the guide. “Compared with our first edition where no producer from Valle d’Aosta, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Umbria, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, or Sardegna reached the podium, we now see these regions abound in the guide.”

Additionally, Gambero Rosso designated 12 Special Awards:

  • Sparkling of the Year: 2016 Gatti Franciacorta Millesimo Nature
  • Red Of The Year: 2019 Giovanni Rosso Barolo Vigna Rionda Ester Canale Rosso
  • White Of The Year: 2018 Primosic Collio Chardonnay Riserva
  • Grower Of The Year: 2016 Camerani Corte Sant’Alda Amarone della Valpolicella Valmezzane

Retailing for $36, Gambero Rosso’s 37th edition of the annual Vini D’Italia guide is available for pre-order on amazon.com. Guides will additionally be available for a discounted rate of $20 during Gambero Rosso’s 2024 U.S. trade tours, which kick off February 21 in Chicago, and follow with stops in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Miami.
