November 16 — Today a small winery in Zillah Washington was the first winery in the USA to commit to the new 300 gram bottle from Verallia.

Paradisos del Sol Winery and Organic Vineyard has strived to use the lightest bottle since its founding in 1999. For decades that has been about 400 grams, a third less than industry average.

For years, founder Paul Vandenberg has sought out other wineries to create a demand for a 300 gram or less bottle. Fortunately Verallia saw the potential and created the lowest Carbon Footprint bottle to date.

Paul also revolutionized closures in 1992 when in his position as winemaker at Worden’s Washington Winery, producing a number of gold medal wines with synthetic closures. The first premium winery to commit to alternative closures.

These bottles will be screw cap.

All bottling at Paradisos is postponed till the new bottles are available in spring of 2024.
