Submissions Open for 2023 Artist Blend Label Contest, Presented by William Chris Vineyards

October 19th – William Chris Vineyards is pleased to announce submissions for the Annual 2023 Artist Blend Label contest are now open and run through October 31, 2023. Every year since 2011, William Chris Vineyard’s Artist Blend label has featured the artwork of a different artist. The series has grown into a celebration of artists from all over, who submit their artwork in a competition to be featured on the label of each new vintage.

Artists interested in submitting must complete the official registration form located on William Chris Vineyards’ website. After the submission period closes, a panel of judges from the William Chris team will select 10 to 15 finalists to be notified the first week of November. Following the finalist’s selection, William Chris Vineyards will host an art exhibit, taking place across a series of upcoming events for their Hye Society wine club members. Voting will be held “people’s choice” style, with a winner being announced before the end of the year.

In addition to having their artwork featured on the 2022 vintage label of Artist Blend from William Chris Vineyards, the winner’s artwork will be shared with the entire William Chris fan base and will have the opportunity to display and sell multiple art pieces at the William Chris Vineyards Hye Estate for up to 60 days. The winner will also receive a case of the Artist Blend wine and an industry discount on William Chris wines for one year.

The appreciation for art flows from the vineyards to the walls in the tasting room. The team at William Chris Vineyards sees a connection between art and winemaking and the Artist Blend honors that connection. From the first vintage label featuring artwork from Mary Ruth Blackmon, Co-Founder Bill Blackmon’s mother, each subsequent vintage has featured a painting linking the art of winemaking with a more traditional form of art.

William Chris Vineyards was founded in the Texas Hill Country in 2008 by Chris Brundrett and Bill Blackmon. Deciding on a pioneer farm settlement in the historic town of Hye, Texas, they began the project to restore the 1905 Deike farmhouse, which became the original William Chris Tasting Room. Over the last decade, William Chris has expanded their estate vineyards and partnered with family-owned farms across the state to source only the highest quality fruit in Texas. In October 2020, Brundrett, teamed up with fellow winegrower and Lost Draw Cellars owner Andrew Sides to merge their companies and create William Chris Wine Company (WCWC), which is the parent company of the William Chris Vineyards (est. 2008), Lost Draw Cellars (est. 2012), Skeleton Key (est. 2015), and Grower Project (est. 2015) brands, and is the leading producer of 100 percent Texas-grown wines in the Lone Star State. WCWC prides itself on expressing the genuine taste of Texas terroir through its wines while delivering a one-of-a-kind, world-class experience. They utilize a hands-off winemaking approach, allowing the characteristics of the fruit, the vineyard or AVA, and the vintage to shine in the finished product. William Chris Vineyards is pleased to share a piece of their world and cannot wait to share it with you.
