Designer Brian Anderson of BAADesign Brings Rockstar Flair to Cliff Lede Vineyards’ Newly Redesigned Tasting Room

(Sep. 8, 2023; Yountville, Calif.)—This month, Napa Valley-based Cliff Lede Vineyards has unveiled new interior design at the winery’s tasting room and Backstage Tasting Lounge, located in the Stags Leap District. Brian Anderson of Sebastopol-based BAADesign, formerly “Chief Magic Maker” at Ken Fulk Design, led the creative vision for the reimagined space, juxtaposing deep hues and textures with clean lines of pine paneling resulting in a decidedly fresh and contemporary look.

“We love that the new design enhances our spirited approach to hospitality at Cliff Lede Vineyards,” says second generation vintner and director of communications, Jason Lede. “We pride ourselves in making exceptional wines and are thrilled to showcase them to guests in a setting that speaks to our culture.”

Throughout the tasting room, guests will find an amalgamation of vintage and contemporary furniture pieces, all finished in a variety of custom fabrics, from a range of designers including ArhausMod ShopNuevo LivingRoom & Board and CB2, as well as eye-catching custom tilework and light fixtures by Ann SacksDaltileVisual ComfortCurrey & Company and Restoration Hardware. These elements have been introduced to enhance the overall atmosphere and speak to the Lede Family’s love of wine, art and music, providing the perfect backdrop for experiencing the winery’s portfolio of meticulously crafted, estate-driven wines.

“I aimed to ‘remaster’ the space with a touch of rockstar edge,” notes Brian Anderson, who cites the winery’s ‘Rock Blocks’—vineyard blocks named after founder Cliff Lede’s favorite songs— as his major source of inspiration.

A standout feature of the refresh was Anderson’s use of thoughtfully sourced wallcoverings in lieu of paint. Inside the winery’s luxe Backstage Tasting Lounge, where a rotating selection of fine art and the winery’s collection of signed guitars are showcased, Anderson chose to depart from the standard gallery white and opted for a handcrafted and bold cork wallcovering, “Blackened Bark” by Philip Jeffries, creating a striking high-contrast backdrop that allows the artwork from musicians such as Grace Slick, Jerry Garcia, and Bernie Taupin, among others, to “pop” off the walls.

Even the bathrooms are a must-visit at Cliff Lede Vineyards. The women’s restroom features a playful and intricately painted wallcovering by Osborne & Little that depicts a Cornish valley garden with bursting echinacea flowers, wild grasses, daisies and poppies, while the men’s room is clad in vibrant vertical stripes of fine wallpaper by French wallpaper publishing and design house Élitis.

The tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reserved Table tastings are available from $60 per person and feature current releases from Cliff Lede Vineyards. Collectors may opt for the views and comfort of the VIP tasting, which features single vineyard, appellation, Platinum or library wines from Cliff Lede Vineyards from $90 per person. Elevated tastings are also hosted in the Backstage Tasting Lounge from $110 per person. Guests may book online at cliffledevineyards.com/visit/ or by calling the winery directly at (707) 944-8642. All experiences are available by appointment and walk-ins may be accommodated based on availability. Private tastings and tours of the winery are available with advance reservation.
