Castoro Cellars, a 40-year tenured winery in Paso Robles levels up their sustainability efforts with the addition of 3 fully electric Monarch Tractors to their fleet.
August 4th – Castoro Cellars welcomes with opens arms the addition of the world’s first, 100% electric, driver optional Monarch Tractors this year, referring to the fleet as “the future of farming”.
Founded by Niels and Bimmer Udsen in 1983, the Castoro Cellars brand is focused on their shared respect for the land. Thus, Castoro Cellars has long been dedicated to sustainable agricultural practices and prides themselves on being an industry leader in sustainability, boasting 1,600 acres of CCOF (California Certified Organic Farming) and SIP (Sustainable in Practice) certified Estate Vineyards. Castoro Cellars is home to approximately 4 acres of solar arrays across the appellation, which generate enough electricity to offset the winery’s energy consumption, and power remote vineyards operations.
In addition to a significant reduction in emissions and fuel consumption, the Udsen’s look forward to the Monarch’s promise for more precise and profitable viticultural farming that will benefit the planet for years to come. Castoro Cellars plans to share this experience with others to influence change for the betterment of the environment and Paso Robles wine.
“What I think is really exciting about the monarch tractors is that they allow us to continue to raise the bar for what it means to be a sustainable grape grower and wine producer. Sustainability is something that is never achieved, it’s an ongoing process, and we are proud to be leaders within the industry and to continue to raise the bar.” – Luke Udsen, Introducing the Monarch fully EV Tractor
