West + Wilder Protects the Great Outdoors with Every Recyclable Can

Winery names recipients of annual 1% for the Planet® contributions

St. Helena, CA, July 26, 2023– Raising a can in honor of the wild places that inspired the line, West + Wilder, a strategic partnership with majority women-owned C. Mondavi & Family, is celebrating the great outdoors by recommitting to 1% for the Planet® and announcing the recipients of their 2023 contributions. From the convenient packaging to the botanical labels, the winery’s delicious, fresh offerings pay homage to the beauty of natural places on the West Coast.

Since its founding in 2018, West + Wilder has contributed more than $49,000 to organizations that help promote land stewardship, protect wildlife and create access to the outdoors for all through its commitment to 1% for the Planet®. This year, West + Wilder supported 11 organizations around the country, including:

California

  • California State Parks Foundation
  • Calaveras Big Trees Association
  • Sequoia Parks Conservancy
  • Big Sur Land Trust
  • Yosemite Southgate Trails

Florida

  • Timucuan Parks Foundation
  • Community Greening

Colorado

  • Aspen Center for Environmental Studies
  • Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado

Ohio

  • Great Parks Forever, Cincinnati
  • USGBC US Green Building Council

“I appreciate the convenience of West + Wilder cans almost as much as I do the quality of the wines,” said Angelina Mondavi, consulting winemaker, and member of the fourth generation of the C. Mondavi family. “They are the perfect size to pop into a backpack, a camping box or a cooler to pair with all kinds of outdoor adventures.”

Portable, packable and completely recyclable, West + Wilder is great wine – that just happens to come in a can. Crafted with premium grapes from select vineyards in California, Oregon and Washington, each variety offers nuanced, delicious flavor. The aluminum cans help preserve freshness – wines are canned multiple times a year, so they are always at their peak – and also offer environmental benefits. They take up less volume so can be packed more efficiently, require less energy to cool down, and are infinitely recyclable. In addition, three cans of West + Wilder, which are equivalent to a standard 750 ml bottle, are nearly 50% lighter than traditional glass, leading to less energy use during transport.

“Consumers who are spending time outside – hiking, biking, kayaking and having some great back-country meals – embody the spirit of the West + Wilder brand philosophy. We believe it’s our responsibility to continue supporting organizations that protect the outdoors,” said Pam Novak, Vice President of Marketing, C. Mondavi & Family.

The West + Wilder collection includes White, Red, Rosé, Sparkling White and Sparkling Rosé wines, packaged in convenient 250-ml cans and priced at $5.99 SRP. The line is available at select restaurants, venues, and retailers nationwide as well as online at WestandWilder.com
