Experience Rosé Announces Results of the 2023 Contest

JULY 10, 2023 – Experience Rosé, a wine competition that focuses exclusively on expressions of pink wine — sweet, dry and sparkling — has announced results of the 2023 contest. Taking top prize this year is Sonoma-Cutrer’s 2019 Grand Brut Rosé sparkling wine (99 points). Judges’ praise included: “bursts of flavor”; “crisp pomegranate and strawberry”; and “lingering finish.” In addition to Best of Show, the wine also took honors as Best Domestic Sparkling.

Mercer Estates Small Lot Rosé (99 pts.) was awarded Best Domestic Dry Rosé; judges described the entry’s “lively mouth”; “floral, rose petals”; and “seamless transition from nose to tongue.” Best International Dry Rosé honors went to Taylors Wines Taylor Made Rosé of Pinot Noir (97 pts.). Judges’ notes included: “really balanced”; “nice mid-palate”; “finished with really nice fruit”; “plump red cherry”; “hint of watermelon”; and “expressive aroma.” JOLO Winery & Vineyards’ Twinkles Rosé (97 pts.) was named Best Native American / Hybrid Rosé and singled out for its “beautiful orange blossom” and “strawberry.” Ultimately, judges agreed, “a fun wine.”

Now in its sixth year, Experience Rosé was founded to help curious consumers confidently explore this emergent fine wine category. “This competition is always a lot of fun,” says Debra Del Fiorentino, founder of Wine Competitions Management & Production, which presents the contest. “The range of colors, grape varieties and styles is always so wide — it’s fun to sample through them all. The quality of the wines entered proves that rosé is a style to no longer be ignored.”

Eligibility for this competition is open to any wine (U.S. or international) with the word “rosé” clearly included on its front or back labeling. Judges include winemakers, sommeliers, retail buyers, wine educators, and journalists.
