The Italian-focused sale will run on iDelawine.com from 23 June – 6 July

Paris, 22 June 2023: iDealwine, a world leader in online fine wine auction sales, will offer an exceptional selection of Italian wines beginning Friday, 23 June. Within this collection, bidders will find cuvées from some of the most sought-after Italian producers. Large formats, ultra-mature vintages, and environmentally conscious production will all be available in what is perhaps the company’s most exciting Italian selection to date! In total, the catalogue will include around 3,000 bottles worth an estimated €250,000. The immense variety of Italian wine has been pulled from the cellars of private collectors and industry professionals from all over Europe. They’ve been stored in ideal conditions and rigorously evaluated by iDealwine’s team of experts.

The star producers

Italian wines enthusiasts will find no shortage of talented winemakers in this auction catalogue, in which the majority come from Piedmont and Tuscany. Included in the sale are some of Italy’s most renowned producers as well as some of the more niche, up-and-coming names. Available vintages will run the gamut from very mature to recent, and large format bottles will not be uncommon. Some of the particularly interesting producers include: Giovan Battista Burlotto, Bruno Giacosa, Giacomo Conterno, Giuseppe Mascarello, Giuseppe Quintarelli, Gaja, Vietti, Roagna, Gianfranco Soldera, Bertani, Giuseppe Rinaldi, Montevertine, Luciano Sandrone, Valentini, Tenuta San Guido, Emidio Pepe, Il Marroneto, San Giusto a Rentennano, and Casanova Di Neri.

The bottles that will surely be fought over

The most well-represented region in this spectacular auction is undoubtably Piedmont. Amongst the rare formats from this region, bidders will find magnums of Barolo Riserva Granbussia 2000 by Aldo Conterno and Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2004 by Luciano Sandrone (also available in double magnum). Additionally, there will be numerous magnums from Giuseppe Rinaldi, Luigi Pira, Voerzio, Vietti, and Roagna. Wine enthusiasts will rejoice at the sight of Crichet Pajé by Roagna, which will be available in several different vintages and formats, including 1999, 2001, 2006, and 2011. Those seeking the rarest of them all will likely gravitate to the ultra-mature vintages dating all the way back to the 1940’s, in addition to the 1968 Barbaresco Sori San Lorenzo from Angelo Gaja, Accomasso’s 1971 Barolo or Ceretto’s 1998 Barolo Bricco Rocche.

Moving over to Tuscany, bidders will once again find no shortage of large format. Several magnums will be available for the taking, including cuvées from Casanova di Neri, Il Marronetto, Tenuta San Guido (Sassiccaia), and Case Basse di Gianfranco Soldera.

For those with a penchant for producers practicing environmentally friendly farming and production methods, there will be many opportunities to add to their collections. In addition to Gianfranco Soldera, Luigi Pira and Voerzio, they will also find renowned, high-quality producers like Foradori, Tenuta di Valgiano, Elena Fucci, Ceretto, Conti Costanti, Tenuta delle Terre Nere, Fratelli Barale, Elena Fucci, and Ceretto.

Italian wines on iDealwine

Italian wines have enjoyed a dramatic rise in popularity on iDealwine where they are being put up for auction with more regularity each year. In 2022, they accounted for 61% of all non-French wines on the website, which was a stark rise from 2021 when they made up only 39%. Many of the bottles have come from Piedmont and Tuscany, which have proven to be biggest Italian stars in recent iDealwine auctions. In the past year, wines from Italy have grown 53% in value and 32% in volume, placing the country squarely in the realm of strategic importance for iDealwine. As the company looks to expand their offering and attract an ever-more-curious set of wine enthusiasts, Italian wines will likely continue to feature more prominently.

This unmissable iDealwine auction will be accessible on the company’s website from June 23 to July 6, 2023. To participate, you will simply need to have created an account on iDealwine.com.
