Women in Natural Wine

June 8th – Now in its 6th year, The Vinguard, a non-profit organization, created WINeFare to amplify the work of women in the natural wine sector. When WINeFare began in 2018, 14 female-identified winemakers and importers poured; this June, 57 will participate.

WINeFare stands apart from other tastings in many respects. While initially founded to celebrate the achievements of women in natural wine, it also serves as an opportunity to call attention to issues central to The Vinguard’s mission to foster belonging, equity, and environmental restoration in the wine industry. In addition to the tasting, there will be a panel discussion during WINeFare with BIPOC, AAPI, and LGBTQ+ identified wine professionals on Belonging and Equity. The Vinguard is also organizing the first-ever Wine and Environmental Justice Conference the day before, June 9th, focusing on the impacts of pesticide and water usage on industry workers and local communities. The conference will feature a panel of vineyard worker and community leaders.

All events will be at the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco. Wine industry professionals are welcome to attend the conference.

The WINeFare tasting is open to everyone who is 21 and over. Tickets for the tasting are $50 in advance, $60 at the door, and $40 for food and wine industry workers, essential workers, educators, and students.
