Grieve Family Winery – Napa Valley Double Eagle Sauvignon Blanc Listed as Top Wine

May 25th – (Napa, CALIF.) — Grieve Family Winery, located in the remote and undiscovered Lovall Valley region of the Napa Valley appellation, has been lauded in the May 31, 2023 issue of Wine Spectator magazine with a wine listed as the top California Sauvignon Blanc, tasted blind out of a class of more than 150 wines.

Wine Spectator wine critic and senior editor MaryAnn Worobiec wrote in the report that there is impressive diversity among the top scorers, “The rich Grieve Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley Double Eagle 2020 (94 points, $50) shows lanolin and honeysuckle notes.” The story about California Sauvignon Blancs went on to recommend the wine as a distinctive white, oozing with lanolin, honeysuckle and buttery lemon pastry notes up front, with its richness matched by fresh acidity.

Founded by Vintners David and Kathleen Grieve in 2008, Grieve Family Winery is a boutique luxury-brand winery on a 70-acre estate located in a yet-to-be-discovered remote Napa Valley location: Lovall Valley. The site is hidden, accessible only by actually leaving Napa County and then reentering after winding through remote backroads of the town of Sonoma.

Grieve Family Winemaker Philippe Melka identified the opportunity to make world-class, French-style Sauvignon Blanc estate grown in Lovall Valley. Along with Director of Winemaking Maayan Koschitzky, together they make the Grieve Family Estate (Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot) and Double Eagle wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux-style Blend and Cabernet Sauvignon).

Worobiec reported that crisp and aromatic California Sauvignon Blanc is surging in quality, with the category a consistent source for fresh and fragrant white wines that pair well with a variety of foods and settings.

Grieve Family Wines are offered through fine wine shops, restaurants and country clubs in select markets nationally, and via the winery website and mailing list. The Grieve Family Estate Vineyard is open to guests by appointment only. For more visit GrieveWinery.com. Follow Grieve Family Winery on Instagram and like on Facebook
