Chateau MIRAVAL and its iconic rosé has just been voted the ‘Most Desirable Provence Rosé Wine in the World’ in a new ranking of the 33 most desirable vineyards in Provence by France’s Le Figaro Magazine (French edition, published on May 19).
May 24th – For this first, completely unprecedented classification, focusing entirely on the attractiveness of wines from estates in Provence, Le Figaro Magazine considered all criteria that have helped make this wine-growing region such a worldwide success. As a region, Provence is, in every sense, highly esteemed. In other words, it is a region consumers dream of – be they in France or on the other side of the planet. So the ranking included the three appellations of Provence wines (Côtes de Provence, Coteaux Varois en Provence, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence), the Bandol AOC, Les Baux de Provence and also Lubéron. The estates were marked on the following eight criteria: the landscape (double points) because it primarily goes to the “postcard effect”; the premises and their renovation; to what extent the site is a hidden treasure; the renown of the owners; the design of the bottles; whether sustainable farming is employed; the visibility of the estate (in France and abroad) and, of course, the quality of the wine the Figaro Vin team tasted. This factor may be last on the list but it is the most essential nonetheless (triple points). The marks for this are calculated on the average score accorded over the last three years by the wine-tasting team.
