May 22nd – Livermore Valley, CA – Cabernet Franc lovers and wine producers are descending upon Livermore Valley, from June 1—4, for the inaugural CabFranc-A-Palooza, a celebration of the charming and seductive grape that, along with Sauvignon Blanc, happens to be a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon.
During CabFranc-A-Palooza, 35+ wineries from around the world will celebrate all things Cabernet Franc, with events and tastings, culminating in the Grand Tasting on Sunday, June 4th at Steven Kent Winery. Award-winning wines from the Livermore Valley, France, Napa Valley, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Oregon, Washington State, the North Fork of Long Island, Sierra Foothills, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz Mountains, Virginia, Texas and more will be featured throughout the 4-day event.

Thursday June 1st, 6-8:30pm: A Celebration of Livermore Valley Cabernet Franc. CabFranc-A-Palooza kicks off on Thursday night at Posada Restaurant in Livermore. This walk-around outdoor event will highlight 16 Livermore Valley Cabernet Franc producers and a selection of contemporary Southwestern inspired bites from Chef Eduardo Posada. SOLD OUT
Friday June 2nd, 6-8pm: Livermore Valley vs. Loire Valley, A Blind Tasting! Join winemaker, Steven Kent Mirassou, and Jim Denham, owner of The Wine Steward in Pleasanton, for the ultimate Cabernet Franc blind tasting. 6 wines from 2 regions, including the histories of both regions, followed by the grand unveil. Saturday June 3rd, 5-7pm: An Exploration into Cabernet Franc will offer an intimate tasting experience with winemakers from five unique regions: Livermore Valley, Napa Valley, Oregon, Virginia, and Bordeaux. Each winery will pour two Cab Francs that highlight their region and winemaking style, paired with a Charcuterie grazing table at Charming Fig in Livermore. SOLD OUT
Sunday June 4th, 12-4pm: The Grand Tasting will be hosted outdoors at the Steven Kent Winery in Livermore, CA, and will feature over 40 world-class Cabernet Francs from 7 different states and 5 countries. The event will also feature live music, cirque performers, midway style carnival games, food trucks, and more. Tickets Available.
VIP Admission: 12-4pm. Enjoy an extra hour of the Grand Tasting, plus VIP-only wines, including Cab Francs from France, Italy, and South America, along with reserve wines. Over 50 wines available to sample: $125 per person.
General Admission: 1-4pm, $99.
CabFranc-A-Palooza co-founder and 5th generation winemaker, Steven Kent Mirassou, conceived of the event in partnership with Social Bacon, a Social Marketing & Branding company, and is an admitted devotee of the grape.
“Cabernet Franc is the most alluring and exciting wine of all, and CabFranc-A-Palooza is the perfect way to showcase its amazing diversity,” says Mirassou. So fond is he of the grape that he created a brand devoted to it, called L’Autre Côte, named for the “Other Coast” of Bordeaux, namely the Left Bank, where Cab Franc blends are common.
The Non-Profit Partner for CabFranc-A-Palooza is the Tri-Valley Conservancy, whose mission is to promote economically sustainable vineyards and orchards, and increase permanently protected, biologically diverse open spaces. The TVC is an advocate for Livermore Valley winegrowers and raising awareness of this world-class growing region.
