Picayune Cellars Announces the Opening of New Location

Expanded Tasting Room and Mercantile with Kitchen and Hat Bar Now Open in Calistoga

CALISTOGA, Calif. – April 13, 2023 – Picayune Cellars, a boutique tasting room and mercantile in Napa Valley is pleased to announce the opening of their new location in downtown Calistoga. The expanded location features monthly pop-up chef dinners, food pairings with wine tastings and more than ten different Picayune wines ranging from Sauvignon Blanc, award winning Albariño, Rosé, Padlock Napa red blend, Champagne and more.

Made in the négociant style by French Native Claire Ducrocq Weinkauf, each Picayune wine champions the idea that wines should be approachable while embracing the purity and intensity of California fruit. As a wine drinker first and foremost, Claire has set out to make wines that are balanced and enjoyable for regular days and special occasions alike. The new tasting room in Calistoga provides visitors with a look into the Picayune lifestyle which creates beautiful moments through food and wine, annual international wine club member trips, mercantile artisans and weekly live music events.

“We are excited to open our new tasting room in Calistoga and share our love for wine, food and beautiful items with visitors from around the world,” Weinkauf said. “Each Picayune wine champions my belief in making approachable wines that are seamlessly incorporated into everyday life, as well as big and small milestones. My team and I are passionate about creating a memorable experience for our guests. The experience starts with our wines and a delicious food pairing, and can extend into making a custom hat, shopping for one of a kind jewelry or signing up for a trip to visit Burgundy. Picayune is not only wine, it is also a lifestyle.”

The new and expanded location features a commercial kitchen allowing for food and wine tasting experiences, special wine dinners, lunches and private events. Beginning in late May, Picayune will offer a monthly rotating lineup of pop-up chef dinners. These events will showcase some of the best chefs in the region alongside expertly paired Picayune wines. The new location also offers live music every Friday, wine club member parties and the opportunity to host your own private luncheon or dinner paired with Picayune wines.

“One of the elements in our new location that we are most excited about is the ability to introduce dining experiences during your time with us.” Weinkauf said. “Whether it’s a few bites paired with your tasting, a pop-up dinner featuring a local chef or a private event, we are excited about the opportunity to bring food and wine together in our new space.”

Unique to Picayune is their mercantile, which includes a curated selection of artisans from France and Native American artists. The shopping experience features an eclectic mix of French master knife makers, Native American ledger artists, jewelry makers and more. New to the collection is work from Zoë Marieh Urness, an award-winning Alaskan Tlingit photographer whose work focuses on Indigenous communities. The mercantile also includes pieces for sale from other Native American artists such as Charlene Reano, Terrance Guardipee and Al Joe.

In addition, guests can treat themselves to a custom hat styling and fitting session at Picayune’s new hat bar. Guests can make an appointment for a personalized styling session while enjoying a selection of wines.

“Our new location provides expanded opportunities for our mercantile business.” Weinkauf said. “Most of the artists we showcase I have met personally and buy directly from them. Some of the artists are very traditional and others are not. Our hat bar is a special shopping experience that offers customization for a must-have fashion accessory. The common denominator in what we curate and sell is that I love what these artists do and, more importantly, they are nice people.”

Picayune’s new tasting room is sure to become a must-visit destination for wine connoisseurs. The new location offers unique experiences that showcase the range of wine and food that this region has to offer.
