April 13th – Château Malartic-Lagravière, a Bordeaux grand cru classé, has launched on April 12, 2023 an exclusive NFT collection of 150 engraved and numbered magnums of the 2022 vintage. The sale has been sold out in one hour!

On Wednesday 12 April, at 6 PM CET, opening the En-Primeur week of Bordeaux, the NFT Limited Edition collection, sold out in one hour on intercellar.io marketplace, has been a real success!

The Château offered to sale 150 NFTs representing 150 unique, engraved, numbered magnums of the sublime 2022 vintage.

Thanks to the NFT technology, which provides proof of ownership, the wines can be traded without leaving the Château. This ground-breaking approach reduces the carbon footprint and preserves the quality of the bottles, which are stored in perfect conditions at the property.

The magnums of 2022 vintage will be available physically at the end of the aging period in November 2024. They are all aged in Petra barrel from Maison Moussié cooper, toasted with lave stone.

Château Malartic-Lagravière has been working for several years with the Maison Moussié cooperage, known for its high-end, distinctive style, including a barrel toasted with lava stone, which preserves and  highlights the fruit, a quality that particularly appeals to the Bonnie family.

Always on the lookout for qualitative and innovative opportunities, this project with the Web3 InterCellar Marketplace and the Maison Moussié cooperage made perfect sense. The sale, which generated a lot of interest from the Web3 community and wine lovers alike, was a great success as all 150 NFTs were sold in one hour on April 12.

Séverine Bonnie, Malartic-Lagravière’s Marketing Director, intends to reach a new, younger clientèle who are interested in high quality, innovative new products. “Malartic has always managed to navigate between excellence and innovation: with this “from Terroir to Blockchain” NFT limited series, we hope to reach a new clientèle and bring great wines to the world of Web3. An exciting challenge!”

It’s a successful operation and the beginning of a beautiful relationship with these new Malartic fans!

About Château Malartic-Lagravière

Château Malartic-Lagravière has stood for centuries on a superb gravel hilltop in Bordeaux’s oldest winegrowing region. Having enjoyed an excellent reputation from the beginning of the nineteenth century, Château Malartic Lagravière is one of only six properties to be included in both the red and white wine categories in the 1953  Graves classification. The vineyard consists of 73 hectares of vines – including 7 hectares devoted to white wines. The vineyard, which is managed according to an agroecological environmental charter, is located on a magnificent terroir of dry gravel and clay. Particular attention is paid to the environment and the preservation of the ecosystem surrounding the vineyard.

Today, the second generation of the Bonnie family has taken the reins and is managing the Grand Cru Classé in an ongoing quest to improve the quality and excellence of the wines. Proud to preserve two centuries of heritage, the family is also resolutely forward-looking and has always been ready to embrace innovation.

The Petra Collection barrels are toasted with a unique patented, lava stone technology using a non-combustion process.
