Chilean Wine Estate Viñedo Chadwick Announces the Release of Its Family’s Private Vertical Library Edition: 2009, 2010 & 2011

This limited library release from the heart of the Chadwick family legacy brings an unprecedented opportunity for collectors to explore the outstanding terroir, quality and ageability of its wines

New York, NY, March 22, 2023 – Chilean wine estate Viñedo Chadwick is pleased to announce the release of its Vertical Library Edition, showcasing the 2009, 2010, and 2011 vintages to the fine wine consumer market. This limited release signifies the continued passion, dedication and journey of Viñedo Chadwick through the wines’ immense quality and ageability.

Viñedo Chadwick is the heart of the Chadwick family legacy. Located in Puente Alto D.O. in the foothills of the Andes, 670 meters (2,200 feet) above sea level, the terroir is revered among the world’s finest for Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard started as a special project to honor the memory of the late Don Alfonso Chadwick, Eduardo’s father, with an ultra-premium red wine showcasing the ancestry, tradition and expertise in producing fine wines, reflecting the family’s passion for excellence. Eduardo convinced his father, one of the best polo players in Chilean history, to convert his beloved polo field into a vineyard, which was planted in 1992, and produced the first vintage of Viñedo Chadwick in 1999. In less than 20 years since the first vintage, the wine has garnered praise from the world’s top critics and wine collectors.

The Chadwick family’s legacy is clearly transmitted through its Viñedo Chadwick wines – traversing through generations – from the great quest for excellence to their meticulous attention to detail. Viñedo Chadwick has a robust history of distinction that has never faltered. As Chile’s first 100-point wine and winner of the historic Berlin Tasting, Viñedo Chadwick has continued to evolve. This special case of Viñedo Chadwick 2009, 2010 and 2011 conveys this evolution, while displaying the wines’ complexity, uniqueness and ageability.

“To be able to share the Viñedo Chadwick wines with the world, in honor of my grandfather, is a gift in itself. To be able to handpick three library vintages for this limited-edition case has been an even bigger pleasure,” notes Viñedos Familia Chadwick SpA Board Member Magui Chadwick. “This limited-release vertical case is a rare opportunity to savor the graceful aging that is innate and unique to each extraordinary vintage within it.”

These three distinct vintages are all expressions of the same terroir, all carrying the world-class quality of D.O. Puente Alto. Each vintage shares a story of a family’s transcendent legacy and wine history. Each of these three vintages has its own nuances: 2009 is a warm vintage full of ripe, red fruit; 2010 shows hints of balsamic, rosemary and bay leaf; and 2011 has an unusually long growing season that resulted in the wine being effortless and silky, with a lengthy finish.

The release of this exclusive vertical collection of Viñedo Chadwick 2009, 2010 and 2011 is an unprecedented opportunity to experience the essence of an outstanding terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon via three different years that ranged from warm to mild to cool, all of them imbued with Puente Alto’s characteristic elegance.

Regarding the 2009 Viñedo Chadwick, Winemaker Francisco Baettig says, “It’s a magnificent example of a wine from a warm year with complex layers of aroma. It’s concentrated and well-balanced with beautifully structured tannins, a texture that envelops the mouth and a very long finish.” The 2010, meanwhile, “is an easygoing and expressive wine with the finesse brought by the long, slow aging process and extraordinary depth.” Finally, the 2011 “is an example of the wine from a cool year, that offers elegance and a touch of sweetness from the oak. A delicate, svelte red with excellent concentration, tension and juice, it rolls over the tongue with silky grace.”

Having received scores of 94-97 points, the bottles chosen for this case are clear indications of Viñedo Chadwick’s long-lasting elegance and greatness through its commitment and promise of creating world-class wines from Chile, all while honoring the Chadwick family legacy. Viñedo Chadwick’s limited Vertical Library Edition: 2009, 2010 & 2011 is released worldwide on La Place de Bordeaux, as well as imported into the US by Shaw-Ross.

About Viñedo Chadwick

Viñedo Chadwick, in Puente Alto D.O., is the heart of the Chadwick legacy. The winery started as a special project to honor the family, created by Eduardo Chadwick, with the first vintage released in 1999. The wine represents the family’s long cherished desire to honor the memory of the late Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, Eduardo’s father, with an ultra premium red wine showcasing the ancestry, tradition and expertise in producing fine wines, reflecting the family’s passion for excellence. Eduardo convinced his father, one of the best polo players in Chilean history, to convert his beloved polo field into a vineyard, which was planted in 1992. The first vintage was 1999, and in less than 20 years, the wine garnered beloved praise from the world’s top critics and wine collectors. The 2014 vintage marked a milestone for Chilean wine history by receiving a perfect 100 point score, becoming the first Chilean wine to achieve this recognition, followed by another 100 for the 2017 vintage.
