Burgeoning Brand from Scheid Family Wines Poised for Continued Growth in the “Better For You” Space
Monterey, CA, March 14, 2023 – Sunny with a Chance of Flowers, the popular zero sugar, low alcohol, and low calorie brand from acclaimed Central Coast producer Scheid Family Wines, is delighted to announce the debut of “Sunny Bubbly Rosé.” The new entry reflects the continued expansion and investment of Scheid Family Wines into the booming “Better For You” market and capitalizes on the increasing demand for both the rosé and sparkling wine categories. Sunny Bubbly Rosé will be available nationwide by the end of March.
Sunny Bubbly Rosé joins five other wines in the Sunny with a Chance of Flowers lineup that has become one of the most important brands in a thriving market geared towards younger consumers who consider wellness and moderation as a motivating factor in beverage purchases. The winery was named an IMPACT Hot Prospect Brand for 2021, and Sunny is currently the fastest growing domestic “Better For You” brand above $10 (IRI Last 52-Week report, January 2023). All Sunny with a Chance of Flowers wines undergo an innovative and proprietary process that gently reduces the alcohol to 9% ABV while preserving the varietal integrity, aromas, flavors and mouthfeel of the wine. They are additionally all certified sustainable, vegan, and gluten-free.
“We are thrilled to be introducing our Sunny Bubbly Rosé as a part of a benchmark brand for our company,” says Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President of Scheid Family Wines. “It’s pretty widely accepted that everything is better with bubbles, and we saw a definite gap—both in the ‘Better For You’ market and in our Sunny lineup. Hat’s off to our winemaking team who have hit it out of the ballpark once again with a beautifully crisp, expressive wine that stays true to the values of the brand while pushing it forward into new territory.”
The advent of Sunny Bubbly Rosé is considered a strategic move for the brand, as the sparkling wine category in particular looks primed for increased traction within the American wine space: from 2019 through 2022, the number of consumers enjoying sparkling wine has increased by 30%, with further projections of increasing the market another 15% by 2026 (Wine Intelligence).
Family-owned and operated for 50 years, Scheid Family Wines’ estate vineyards span a 70-mile spread in the Monterey AVA and have been certified sustainable since 2014. Scheid’s winery operations are entirely powered by 100% renewable wind energy generated by a 400-foot-tall wind turbine, which also supplies enough excess energy to power 125 homes in the local community. Heidi Scheid leads the Sunny team as “Chief Sunny Officer” and Casey Di Cesare is the Winemaker behind the Sunny with a Chance of Flowers lineup.
Sunny with a Chance of Flowers Bubbly Rosé (SRP $19.99) is grown, harvested and vinified in the Monterey region that Scheid Family Wines calls home. It delights with flavors of fresh strawberry and watermelon wrapped in a package of lovely, fine bubbles and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Sunny with a Chance of Flowers Bubbly Rosé is launching nationally with Kroger in April. The Sunny lineup is available nationwide at select retailers such as Kroger, Target, Whole Foods and many others, as well as restaurants and directly through the website at SunnyWines.com.
