Palisade, COLO – The annual Colorado Winefest Art Contest was held virtually over the past several weeks allowing art and Winefest lovers to cast their votes on the top four finalists. Every year, the Colorado Association for Viticulture & Enology (CAVE) invites 2D artists from around Colorado to submit their artwork for a chance at becoming the official Colorado Winefest Poster Artist. This year’s contest featured 26 entries.

Jeffrey Pickett with his winning entry, “Harvest Time”

The winning piece of artwork was selected by the public through online voting and the winner was announced on Friday, January 27th online through the CAVE & Colorado Winefest social media channels. “Harvest Time” by Jeffrey Pickett will represent the 32nd Annual Colorado Mountain Winefest presented by Fisher’s Liquor Barn! “We had an incredible showing of artists from across the state for this year’s contest,” says Cassidee Shull, CAVE Executive Director. “We are so excited to work with Jeff and showcase “Harvest Time” for Winefest this year!”

“I knew this contest was open to the entire state, and wanted to create something that kept with the traditional themes I’ve seen in the past but stayed true to my pop-art style,” says Pickett. “I love to work within digital media. I sketch out each design first then work within Photoshop to finalize my pieces.”

Jeffrey Pickett will also receive a cash prize of $700.00 and “Harvest Time” will be featured on wine totes, t-shirts, and posters, as well as local and nationwide print and digital marketing. Prints of “Harvest Time” will be available for purchase online and in the Winefest Office later this spring!

The top winners of this year’s art contest are as follows:

  • First Place: “Harvest Time” by Jeffrey Pickett
  • Second Place: “Have a Grape Time” by Wendy Videlock
  • Third Place: “This Is How We Do It” by Alice Moody
  • Fourth Place: “Palisade Wine Company” by Jeffrey Pike

The Winefest Art Contest asks for Colorado-based artists to capture the essence of the state’s wine industry. The contest is open to any Colorado resident and takes place every January.
