January 12th – Leading luxury wine retailer Westgarth Wines has appointed Maurizio Broggi as Wine Specialist. Based in the key U.S. market, Maurizio will help drive the firm’s vision to be the country’s number one choice for exclusive access to the world’s finest wine.
Born and raised in Milan, Maurizio has extensive experience in the global wine industry. In his native Italy, he has worked as an educator, consultant, and ambassador for various Italian wine associations.
In 2011, he moved to China where he was an industry ambassador for a Hong Kong-based wine distributor. Since 2014, he has lived in the country, working primarily on wine education projects. In collaboration with several Italian consortia, he developed an educational program specifically focused on the wines of Italy.
Maurizio holds a Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits and was awarded the Napa Valley Vintners Scholarship as a North American high-achieving Diploma graduate. He teaches WSET courses from Level 1 up to Level 4 in the country and online for the WSET Headquarters.
In 2019, Maurizio studied winemaking at UC Davis, California, and successfully completed the Certificate Program in Winemaking. He is currently a Master of Wine candidate (Stage 2). Also, in 2019 he was a judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
