Salem, Ore. (January 12, 2023) Bryn Mawr Vineyards has introduced a newly-built private tasting room and two new elevated tasting experiences to offer guests this year. The winery in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA will continue to host tastings in their primary tasting room and on their beloved tasting deck, which boasts expansive views of the Bryn Mawr estate, surrounding vineyards, and the Oregon coastal range.
The intimate private tasting room will house two new elevated experiences: the Bryn Mawr Vineyards Elevation and Exploration Tastings. Both will include limited production wines that cannot be sampled in the primary tasting room, such as the Jeffrey’s Block Pinot Noir and Bryn Mawr’s estate Reserve Pinot Noir, a wine that is exclusively made in the best vintages and blended from the most outstanding barrels. The Elevation and Exploration Tastings both concentrate exclusively on Bryn Mawr’s small-batch estate wines, produced from grapes grown on their 40-acre property.
Built in 2022, the private tasting room is an intimate, luxurious space to enjoy a leisurely and educational wine tasting. Situated atop Bryn Mawr’s estate vineyard with floor-to-ceiling, southwest-facing windows overlooking the estate and valley below, the space also includes a private covered deck. Seated around one large communal table, guests can forget there are other buildings nearby, and enjoy an unencumbered view alongside unique personal attention from one of Bryn Mawr’s dedicated wine educators. The Elevation Tasting includes the best of Bryn Mawr’s estate wines, and guests enjoy curated charcuterie pairings alongside their educational wine experience.
Reservations are offered for 2 to 12 people, at $50 per guest.
The Exploration Tasting is a two-hour experience, including a thorough winery and vineyard tour and outdoor tasting with paired charcuterie. Led by David Lauer, National Sales Director and son of owners Jon and Kathy Lauer, guests of the Exploration Tasting have the unique opportunity to traverse Bryn Mawr’s estate and sample its wines with one of its most passionate and knowledgeable staffers. David’s guests start with an in-depth tour of the winery where they’ll learn about the winemaking philosophies at Bryn Mawr and will get a behind-the-scenes look at the working winery. The tour then moves into the LIVE-certified vineyard for a guided hike with David to learn about Bryn Mawr’s sustainable viticulture practices and to take in the expansive views.
As David describes, “The Exploration tasting is perfect for me as it strips away any airs of a traditional tasting experience. Surrounded by bugs, clover, dirt, and vines, we get in touch with the beating heart of wine culture, the vineyard itself. It’s the perfect way to learn about sustainable viticulture and feel the natural rhythms that power our fascinating world.”
Weather permitting, the Exploration tour ends under a shady grove of Douglas fir trees, where guests will taste exclusive bottlings with hearty charcuterie pairings after the hike. This experience is offered for 2 to 12 people, at $125 per guest with advanced reservations via Tock.
About Bryn Mawr Vineyards
Welsh for “high hill,” the Bryn Mawr vineyard is nestled atop one of the steepest slopes in the Willamette Valley amid a pristine forest of Douglas Firs, and with the influence of strong, maritime winds flowing in from the Van Duzer Corridor. Owners Kathy and Jon Lauer knew the site had enormous potential and purchased the Bryn Mawr Estate Vineyard in 2009, hiring winemaker Rachel Rose shortly thereafter to lead the growth and development of both the vineyard and their wine program. Under the leadership of Rachel Rose, Bryn Mawr crafts wines of great complexity and tension including legacy varietals like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as well as burgeoning varietals like Tempranillo, Dolcetto and several aromatic white grapes. Bryn Mawr produces 10,000 cases annually and is distributed in the following states: AL, AZ, CA, CT, DC, DE, FL, MD, MI, MN, MT, NC, NJ, NY, OR, OH, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT.
