Verona, 21th November 2022 – Prestigious accolades from the most important wine guides have rewarded Tommasi Family Estates’ planning for growth and consolidation and bear witness to the dedication and attention to quality at all the group’s domaines, from Valpolicella in the Veneto to Vulture in Basilicata, and including Montalcino in Tuscany.

De Buris Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva D.O.C.G. is once again the Tommasi family’s outstanding star, winning the Fero Prize as the Best Age-worthy Red from the Sommeliers’ Association for the Veneto, as well as “4 Vines” from AIS, “3 Glasses” from Gambero Rosso, “Smiley Faces” from Cernilli (Doctor Wine)’s Essential Wine Guide and a “Crown” from ViniBuoni d’Italia; a “Crown” was also earned by Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico D.O.C.G., making Tommasi the only firm in the region with two Amarones that took home ViniBuoni d’Italia’s highest accolade. The Ca’ Florian Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva was, on the other hand, rewarded by Bibenda with “5 Grape Clusters” and by the Top One Hundred Wines of Verona; 4 Stars from ViniBuoni for the Ripasso and for the Rafaèl Valpolicella Classico Superiore D.O.C., which amazed Michael Garner of the English magazine Decanter, who gave it a rating of 95/100.
Le Fornaci also had its share of success, with the Lugana Riserva D.O.C. earning 4 Camunian Roses from AIS in Lombardy and the young Lugana being rewarded by the Guide to the Top One Hundred Wines of Verona.

The production of Casisano in Montalcino stands out, both with the Colombaiolo Brunello Riserva and with its Brunello, with excellent scores all well over 90/100 from the Italian guides and in particular from foreign wine publications such as Wine Spectator, Vinous, Decanter, James Suckling and Falstaff. Paternoster Don Anselmo Aglianico del Vulture Superiore D.O.C. once again proved itself to be one of the icons of Basilicata with 4 Vines from the AIS Guide, 93/100 from Veronelli and 95/100 from Cernilli-Doctor Wine, and the Synthesi Aglianico del Vulture earned a 2023 BereBene award from Gambero Rosso. Caseo, the estate in the Oltrepò Pavese and home to Pinot Nero and sparkling wines, took home 4 Camunian Roses from AIS in Lombardy.

As a result of its desire to share its award-winning products with true wine enthusiasts, Tommasi is launching a new experience designed for and devoted to a particularly exacting audience. The Tommasi Wine Club, online within the Tommasi Wine Hospitality portal, offers a chance to have access to specially selected products and find out about the company’s most highly rated wines.

“We have come up with the idea of the Wine Club as an exclusive and innovative way to look after lovers of our wines and other enthusiasts. It is a project I really believe in, and which has been conceived to create a direct relationship with our community, based on customer loyalty,” Director General Pierangelo Tommasi explains. “The Tommasi Wine Club is an integral part of the strategy that we have already put into action in order to be more responsive, taking advantage of the possibilities that online marketing makes available to us. Interest in selling direct to the consumer through the Wine Club is a stimulating and growing trend, but by no means an easy one. Our target of clients has to be pampered, encouraged, and oriented towards trying new types of wine or tasting experiences at the winery. It calls for continued energy and perseverance in cultivating a relationship with each and every consumer, both before and after purchase. It is therefore a very demanding project. However, I am convinced that investing directly in consumers is a winning strategy, because buying habits are changing and there is in fact a growing demand coming directly from them.”

The Tommasi Wine Club offers several types of subscription, which allow wine lovers to receive a constantly updated selection of specially chosen products. All the subscription plans include the Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico – Limited Edition, the celebratory bottle marking the company’s 120th anniversary. Not only wine will be featured, but also tasting experiences at the winery and benefits for the services offered by the Villa Quaranta Tommasi Wine Hotel & Spa.

The Tommasi Wine Club project forms part of the company’s wide-ranging and farsighted planning for growth. The family is focusing on the audience of wine lovers, giving them the chance to receive at home a refined selection of exclusive products and, at the same time, to become familiar with new products and experiences.

TOMMASI FAMILY ESTATES

A family and a group that are working for the present and future of Italian wine: Tommasi represents the history of the Valpolicella area, and more besides. With seven wine-producing estates in six Regions of Italy – Tommasi in the Veneto, Tenuta di Caseo in Lombardy, Casisano at Montalcino and Poggio al Tufo in the Tuscan Maremma, Masseria Surani in Puglia, Paternoster in Basilicata and a project in Umbria that will be ready in 2023, (as well as a partnership with La Massa in Chianti Classico) – the group’s objective is to create great wines, always highlighting the value of the individual terroir.
The picture is completed by the De Buris cultural and winemaking project, linked to the terroir of Valpolicella Classica, the restoration of Villa De Buris, and the production of an Amarone Classico D.O.C. Riserva.

Four generations of pioneers, explorers, precursors and especially visionaries, attentive to the vital importance of quality in every phase of production, with respect for traditional techniques but also open to experimentation: with the unique experience and know-how they have acquired and cultivated over time, the Tommasi family aims to express the very best of each region, combining this with their dedication to sustainability and hospitality.
Their attention to offering a warm welcome is expressed at Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & SPA in Valpolicella, the Mazzanti Hotel and Caffè Dante Bistrot in Verona, and the Poggio al Tufo Agriturismo at Pitigliano, in the Tuscan Maremma.

For Tommasi Family Estates Ho.Re.Ca. and Retail have the same incidence and each represents about 50% of the company business. Italy covers 15% of the entire turnover; Tommasi is now present in 70 markets on 5 continents, North America and Europe represent the majority with Asia and Oceania growing.
