Luxury Calistoga winery donates 50% of Chardonnay proceeds to Napa Valley firehouses in commemoration of Glass Fire anniversary
Calistoga, Calif., November 15 ,2022 — Davis Estates has dedicated their 2020 First Responders Chardonnay to the brave firefighters who fought to save their winery and so many others two years ago during the 2020 Glass Fire in Napa Valley. Appropriately dubbed the Thank You First Responders Chardonnay, this wine will benefit local heroes, with 50% of the proceeds going directly to Napa Valley firehouses.
Davis Estates was directly impacted by the 2020 wildfire season that devastated areas of the Napa Valley. Due to the round-the-clock work of the brave firefighters and first responders, and Davis Estates’ commitment to wildfire preparation, the winery ultimately survived the Glass Fire with their tasting room and many of their vineyards intact.
While Davis Estates has always upheld giving back as a key mission statement, their proximity to this disaster and the local heroes who fought, and continue to fight, for their community made dedicating this wine to the cause a natural choice for Davis Estates’ founder and owner, Mike Davis.
“We know that Davis Estates would likely not still be standing without the life saving work of the brave first responders in the Napa Valley who fought hard to save our property two years ago,” shares Mike Davis. “Not only is this wine delicious, but it also allows us to give back to these local heroes in a big way as a small token of our appreciation.”
The 2020 First Responders Chardonnay took the place of the Davis Estates Chardonnay for this vintage. While the wine is similar to the regularly released Chardonnay that Davis Estates fans know and love, because of winemaking conditions during the fires, the 2020
First Responders Chardonnay saw no new oak and had to be finished in stainless steel tanks, giving it a crisper and refreshing flavor profile.
