Napa, California | November 7, 2022: Can we put “Napa” on the label of this new wine? If you’ve ever wondered when you can, and cannot, display “Napa Valley” (or any of its sub-AVAs) on the bottle label or in advertising, the newly available When Does a Wine Qualify for “Napa”? online compliance course is now available. Originally developed at the request of the Napa Valley Vintners, the Winery Compliance Training Academy has made this training course available to the public.

This self-paced, online training course provides an immersive and comprehensive guide to  the federal and state of California laws which guide whether a wine qualifies for “Napa” in its brand name or for different types of Napa appellations.

According to Michelle Novi, Industry Relations & Regulatory Affairs Director at the Napa Valley Vintners, “The digital courses available through Winery Compliance Training Academy teach complex labeling and reporting requirements in an approachable and easy to understand way, making them a valuable tool for anyone responsible for winery compliance.” Napa Valley Vintner members are able to sign up for the course at a special discounted rate.
