Fall Creek Vineyards Introduces a Limited-Edition Mission San Antonio de Valero, Alamo Cabernet Sauvignon

TOW, Texas (October 19, 2022) — Fall Creek Vineyards is releasing 2021 Mission San Antonio de Valero, Alamo Cabernet Sauvignon, a limited-edition wine that celebrates Texas heritage. Ed Auler, Fall Creek Vineyards’ co-founder, was inspired to create a special wine to honor Texan heroes, such as William B. Travis, who sacrificed themselves on the hallowed ground of the Mission San Antonio De Valero, a.k.a. the Alamo. This new wine captures history in a bottle as some of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this special wine were grown at Oxbow Vineyard, the estate vineyard of Fall Creek Vineyards at Driftwood, which is situated on land originally owned by William B. Travis.

“As a fifth-generation Texas rancher and an avid Texas historian, I wanted to make a special wine as a tribute to the brave souls who fought and gave their lives for the sake of our Lone Star State in 1836,” said Ed Auler. “With this release, we seek to help highlight and preserve this most cherished shrine to Texas liberty, the Alamo.”

“Alamo” Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious, medium-body wine with soft tannins and 13.8% ABV. To the taste buds, the wine exhibits dark cherry, plum, spice and light oak, creating a perfect harmony between fruit and acidity. Director of winemaking, Sergio Cuadra, made this wine with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 8% Tempranillo. Mission San Antonio de Valero, Alamo Cabernet Sauvignon was aged one year in new French and American oak barrels before being bottled.

The iconic image of the Alamo is featured boldly on the label of Fall Creek Vineyard’s 2021 Mission San Antonio de Valero, Alamo Cabernet Sauvignon. The Texas General Land Office granted Fall Creek permission to use the “Alamo” graphic and name, as noted by the trademark on this historical wine label. This was made possible for an important purpose as a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each bottle will support the Texas General Land Office’s restoration, operation and maintenance of the Alamo.

Production of this special edition wine is limited with about 550 cases of Fall Creek’s Mission San Antonio de Valero made. The 2021 Mission San Antonio de Valero, Alamo Cabernet Sauvignon will be released on Sunday, October 30 and will be available for purchase at Fall Creek Vineyards as well as through select retailers and restaurants across Texas.
