City Winery to Open in Iconic Grand Central Terminal November 1; Launching Unprecedented Reusable Wine Bottle Program

America’s Favorite And Fastest Growing Urban Winery Offers Commuters Three Concepts Including An Elevated Farm To Table Restaurant, All Day Grab And Go, And Signature City Winery Cultural Experience

New York, NY (September 2022)— City Winery, the culinary and cultural experience for local wine enthusiasts and live entertainment venue, is opening its 14 location in the iconic Grand Central Terminal in Vanderbilt Hall on November 1st. With the opening, City Winery will be launching a reusable bottle program so customers can take wine to go, return the bottle to be washed and sanitized, then receive a $5 credit towards the next bottle. Located on the west side of Vanderbilt Hall, there will be three concepts including a signature City Winery experience, an all-day grab and go spot called City Jams, and a new high end farm to table restaurant named after Cornelius Vanderbilt, Cornelius.

“As a New Yorker, this is my most surreal venue opening to date,” says Michael Dorf, City Winery Founder and CEO. “This is truly an honor as a restaurateur and someone who loves the city to have a footprint in the iconic Grand Central Terminal. And to leverage this location’s commuters, we very proud to launch an important returnable bottle program to urgently combat climate change in how we drink wine on the go.”

There will be two tasting bars to enjoy City Winery’s signature wines on tap, fresh from stainless steel kegs without the need for bottles, corks or metal seals 70% of the wine goes straight into glass, never seeing a bottle. Now, City Winery is tackling the solution for wine consumed at home with reusable bottles designed to be returned and refilled rather than discarded. City Winery’s main wine production facility is located just north of the city on the Wallkill River, where the company is restoring the old Montgomery Mills hydroelectric dam to provide 100% of the electricity used on-premise. The City Winery venue will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring live ambient music with the capacity to host 190 guests.

City Jams will offer rotating breakfast, lunch and dinner menus as well as locally roasted coffee, tea and other drinks. Grab a fresh breakfast wrap or pastry in the morning, enjoy sandwiches and salads for lunch, artisanal cheese and charcuterie selections for the ride home, plus burgers, pizzas and more.

Inspired by Grand Central’s creator Cornelius Vanderbilt, the menu at Cornelius will feature “old farm, new table” dishes such as Oysters Vanderbilt and Filet Oscar with Prime Tenderloin from Hudson Valley Ranch. This white table cloth restaurant will be reservation only and have 75 seats.

This will be the fifth location in New York City accompanying City Winery NYC, City Vineyard NYC, Rockefeller Center Wine Garden and Yankee Stadium, and the sixth for the state including Hudson Valley, the hydro-powered winery, vineyard, restaurant, outdoor concert venue and private events space at the historic Montgomery Mills.

City Winery Grand Central, City Jams and Cornelius will be located at 89 East 42nd Street.
