July 26th – (Kennewick, WA) – Washington’s oldest organic winery, Badger Mountain Organic Vineyard is thrilled to be celebrating its 40th Anniversary, honoring a legacy that spans four decades of leadership and land stewardship in the Washington wine industry. Since its founding in 1982, Badger Mountain has evolved into one of the largest certified organic producers by case volume in the country, as well as the largest in the state. This 40-year milestone will culminate with a Harvest Celebration on September 10, 2022, from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Badger Mountain Winery, located in Kennewick, WA.

“We are so proud and honored to have been a part of the Washington wine industry for the last four decades and to have been at the forefront of organic grape growing and wine production,” said Managing Partner Mickey Dunne. “All of the practices that have evolved over our 40 years align with our simple mission statement: Natural passion, responsible farming, pure wines. We are committed to continuing this mission, and we cannot wait to see what the next 40 years will bring.”

Founded by visionary farmer Bill Powers in 1982 in collaboration with Dr. Walter Clore, Badger Mountain’s conversion to organic farming began in 1988. In 1990, it became the first certified organic vineyard in Washington State. It was Bill’s belief that there was a better way to grow, and the industry recognized his contributions by naming Bill a “Legend of Washington Wine” in addition to his Lifetime Achievement Award. Badger Mountain has continued Bill’s vision by incorporating solar power, biodiesel conversion, and utilization of local and low-impact materials within the vineyard and winery, among other Earth-friendly practices.

From its beginning, the winery has stood by its responsibility to the environment and now extends to producing a completely natural product under the Badger Mountain label. It currently sells an average of 50,000 cases annually and, combined with its sister brand Powers Winery, ranks in the top 15 wine producers in the state. Additionally, Badger Mountain has garnered a broad international reach that includes exports to Japan, Brazil, the European Union, and beyond.
