(July 25; Sebastopol, CA) – Lynn and Anisya Fritz, proprietors of Lynmar Estate Winery, are pleased to announce the promotion of Pete Soergel to director of winemaking and vineyards. Having been with Lynmar for the past decade, and serving as winemaker for the past five years, Soergel will now oversee Lynmar’s vineyard team and the farming of its four vineyards, Quail Hill Vineyard, Adam’s Vineyard, Susanna’s Vineyard, and Hessel Station Vineyard, spanning 85 acres of vines planted from the north to southernmost pockets of the Russian River Valley AVA.

“This appointment is the culmination of Pete’s long history at Lynmar Estate. His degree in agriculture sciences at Virginia Tech, and his years of applied expertise in winemaking together create the classic vigneron tradition of dirt to glass responsibility,” says Lynn Fritz. “Pete’s knowledge and connection to the land, vines, and grapes is evident in every bottle of Lynmar Estate wine.”

As director of winemaking and vineyards, he will continue the Fritz family’s 40-plus year pursuit of realizing its estate vineyards’ fullest potential. Through trial and error, Lynmar has identified and developed an extremely complex web of 53 extraordinary high-quality blocks throughout its four distinct sites, with each block having its own highly specific clonal and rootstock selections and spacing. The resulting fruit makes up the palette for the broad range of wines in the portfolio which include 21 Pinot Noirs, eight Chardonnays, along with a Rosé and Sparkling Rosé.

“Lynmar is a winemaker’s dream due to the control we are afforded in everything from soil to bottle,” says Pete. “Our main priority is to make wines that embody the true character of the vineyards we farm from both our own sites and those in which we source and oversee all farming in order to keep in line with our highly specific requirements. We always strive to improve through even greater attention to detail and experimentation. It’s a very exciting and humbling estate and family to be aligned with both creatively and ethically.”

A Pittsburgh native with a family background in agriculture combined with his Virginia Tech science degree, Pete is looking forward to this next phase in his career partnering with Lynn and Anisya and the Lynmar team to continuously elevate each aspect of Lynmar Estate’s operations, from farming to winemaking to hospitality.
