July 14th – As of September 2022, Viña Cobos will entrust the exclusive distribution of its flagship wine “Cobos Malbec” to La Place de Bordeaux through the Bureau des Grands Vins.
Paul Hobbs, founder and winemaker, commented: “Working with La Place allows our flagship wine to reach a vastly greater number of fine wine consumers and collectors worldwide. We believe La Place will serve to strengthen the reach of Viña Cobos wines already present in over 60 countries.”
The distribution of this Argentine Icon will initially rely on the expertise and knowledge of seven Bordeaux negociants: CVBG, LD Vins, Ulysse Cazabonne, Joanne Rare Wines, Maison Ginestet, Diva and Crus et Domaines de France, who will commercialize this remarkable wine in the most prominent places in Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
The product of a perfected union, Cobos Malbec is sourced from our finest vines and powered by quality farming. The wine is vinified using time-honored artisanal and handcrafted methods. Our goal—to be the world reference for malbec. Carlos de Carlos, Commercial Director explained, “Cobos Malbec is a wine of exceptional character, beauty, and depth. Part of its nobility stems from its ageability. This wine will reward with the passage of time.”

Chañares Estate – Cobos Malbec’s home vineyard
“While Chañares Estate is a decidedly distinctive terroir supremely well suited for Malbec, we cannot overstate the importance of farming as it relates to growing exceptional fine wine grapes. The eye of the farmer is critical. Attentiveness to detail and doing the right thing at the proper moment are paramount,” emphasized Paul Hobbs about the work he and his team have been doing in Argentina for over 30 years.
Cobos Malbec 2019
Cobos Malbec—pinnacle of Viña Cobos—is the first ever South American wine to garner the highly coveted 100-point rating and is the most consistently highly rated wine from Argentina (1). Cobos Malbec—marking a milestone in viticulture, defying existing standards, and firmly positioning Malbec and Argentina on the international stage. (1) James Suckling, April 2022
The wine’s appearance is a brilliant, deep, vibrant violet-blue hue. Aromas of ripe gooseberry, black fig, and mountain grown herbs explode from the glass. The palate bursts of freshly picked red currant and blueberry fruit leading to a profound complexity that persists through its long, finely textured finish. This well-rounded, multi-layered wine is full-bodied and displays exceptional balance, power, tension, and finesse.
