Race to the Top offers sommeliers and wine professionals a unique way to win $500
CHICAGO, IL (July 6, 2022) Alto Adige Wines announces that its signature sommelier and wine professional competition, “Race to the Top,” will happen for the fourth consecutive year, this time in Chicago. Race to the Top offers participants the opportunity to compete via trivia about the region and rock climbing to win a cash prize.
Alto Adige Wines will host this one-of-a-kind competition at Maggie Daley Park in Chicago, IL on August 15 this year. The competition took place last year outside of Denver, CO and previously was in New York City and held virtually in 2020.
Teams of three will include two group members answering questions about the
region on the ground and one teammate on the rock climbing wall, advancing to
a new “altitude” with every right answer from their partners below. The team with
the combined fastest time and best score will each win $500.
Questions will cover a variety of topics, including key grape varieties, soils and
DOC characteristics. Unlike other sommelier competitions, Race to the Top goes
beyond sitting in a classroom and brings the region to life by incorporating
characteristics that have a significant influence on the wines of Alto Adige:
elevation & innovation.
A virtual seminar and additional study materials will be provided for registered participants before the competition. Qualified trade & press interested in participating are welcome to register at racetothetop2022.splashthat.com.
