Texas Hill Country Wineries Take Home 78 Medals at the TEXSOM International Wine Awards 

AUSTIN, Texas (June 29, 2022) – Texas Hill Country Wineries brought home a total of 78 medals at the 2022 TEXSOM International Wine Awards.

Over 2,000 wines were blind-tasted and judged by 40 renowned tastemakers from across the  country last month, resulting in a total of 1,541 medals.  

Texas wines in general performed extremely well in the competition, taking home 164 awards. Texas Hill Country Wineries members won five Platinum Medals, two Gold, 28 Silver and 43 Bronze Medals. Of the award-winning Texas wines, 13 were from the Texas Hill Country AVA. 

“It’s rewarding to see our member wineries continue to shine at the prestigious TEXSOM awards each year,” says January Wiese, Executive Director, Texas Hill Country Wineries. “Spanish, French and Italian varieties can all thrive in Texas, producing a wide variety of award-winning wines crafted by hardworking winemakers across the state.”
