Great Wine – Family Winemakers Tasting is Scheduled for Sunday, August 21 in SF-Bay area

Sacramento, CA (June 13, 2022) – Family Winemakers of California, an association of  family-owned wineries in California, is excited to announce the 2022 date for its San  Francisco – Bay area tasting. This year, the trade and consumer tasting ventures to Oakland for the first time and takes place at BLOC15 at Jack London District – 252 2nd Street this year, on Sunday, August 21. This will be our first tasting event in the east bay and we are excited to spotlight about 50 producers from California’s small, family-owned wineries pouring 300 different wines, said Pete Downs, President of Family Winemakers of  California.

“The pandemic has been very difficult for many small producers in the wine industry, as  many were selling their wines only to restaurants or relied on visitors to their tasting rooms for wine sales – both of which were greatly impacted by the California shutdown. Our member wineries are eager to get back to pouring their fabulous wines for consumers and especially for the trade accounts that are back in business and ready to restock their winelists. Many of these award winning and acclaimed wines will be tasted for the first time in the Oakland area. This tasting is always a hit, and this year it is even more in demand because people were unable to participate in these events for so long. It’s an ideal way to meet the owners and winemakers that craft these great wines. The passion-driven winemakers of these small production wines are what makes our tasting event really special. Wineries will feature many hard-to find wines poured by the winemaker or winery owner themselves, in many cases,” added Downs. “Our guests look for a different type of event, where they can discover the best wines that aren’t available everywhere and get the opportunity to speak directly with the winemaker or the winery owner and get to hear firsthand about the family tradition and story behind the wines being poured. They also love the atmosphere of our  events. We are excited to be here this year and to be able to do what we all love to do.”

The 2022 Oakland Tasting opens its doors on Sunday, August 21 at 12:00 pm, for specially ticketed consumers, and 2pm for the general consumer, along with an invitation only event to wine trade members. The tasting is targeted to members of the trade and discerning consumers. The event ends at 4:00 pm. It’s also worth noting that orders can be placed that day for wines you like for shipment to your home, making it easy to enjoy your favorite wines later. If you want to participate in their wine clubs, you can sign up at this event for that too.

Consumer tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at our website at  www.familywinemakers/taste for $55 regular consumer ticket and the $75 ticket allows  admission when the tasting starts at 12pm. These are advanced purchase prices, tickets at  the door will go up to $60 & $80.

For attendees taking air transportation, the closest airports are Oakland Metropolitan  International (OAK), approximately 2 miles; and San Francisco International (SFO), approximately 22 miles. The venue has plenty of parking nearby.

FAMILY WINEMAKERS OF CALIFORNIA

Family Winemakers of California was established in 1990 in response to a need for public  policy involvement for the small wine producers of California. The association has become  a strong force in the wine industry, lobbying for wine producer rights, and has an active  membership of about 300 California wineries. This is our 32nd year hosting tasting events  for our member wineries.
