First Successful In-Person packXplore Conference Concludes

Healdsburg, CA, May 27, 2022 – Produced by Wine Industry Network (WIN), packXplore, a conference dedicated to helping wineries and wine brands discover and navigate the wide world of wine packaging, took place May 25, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country.

The conference started with a session on performance by package type and emerging trends in the marketplace presented by Peggy Gsell, Client Business Partner at NeilsenIQ, along with Meghan Sheldon, Innovative Director / BASES BevAl Team. This was followed up by Dennis Sones, VP of Sales and Marketing of ByQuest, who shared how wine brands might rethink how they go to market, such as breaking free of the traditional idea that a certain varietal of wine must conform to a particular bottle profile. Social media expert, Shana Bull, shared how brands can create a consumer experience with wine packaging.

In the afternoon was the Innovation Showcase, where six industry experts presented their latest innovations in wine packaging, with emphasis on how they will make a difference for wine quality, consumer engagement or sustainability goals. Affinity Creative Group closed the day with case studies on brands that have evolved their packaging; the presentation detailed their strategic considerations, challenges, and opportunities that drove design decisions.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit with exhibiting wine packaging companies, enjoy a beautiful outdoor lunch prepared by the Hyatt Regency Chef (which was sponsored by Monvera Glass Decor) and attend a special end-of-day networking social featuring local wines.

“When it comes to packaging and all of the innovation taking place in that part of the business, these are conversations and demonstrations that need to take place and be seen in-person. We look forward to continuing our goal of highlighting and sharing the best advice available when it comes to the business of wine,” stated George Christie, President and CEO of Wine Industry Network.
