May 2022 – Lungarotti, the historic winery from Umbria, returns to Prowein in Dusseldorf to present the new vintages of its iconic wines. From May 15th to 17th, within the stand of their importer Consigliovini (Hall 16, Stand F03), visitors can taste a selection of the labels that are particularly appreciated in Germany, always a key market for Lungarotti in both the Horeca channel and the large-scale distribution sector, with dedicated wines.

Tastings will feature the top wines of the historical Torgiano Estate, such as Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio 2017 – Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG, a pure Sangiovese born in 1964 thanks to a  brilliant intuition of Giorgio Lungarotti and considered one of the best Italian reds.  Also in the spotlight will be Torre di Giano Vigna il Pino 2018 based on Vermentino, Trebbiano and Grechetto, awarded the Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso this year. The fair will also provide the perfect setting to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Rubesco – Rosso di Torgiano DOC, another iconic Lungarotti label. Commercialized for the first time in 1962, Rubesco has marked the birth of the first DOC appellation in Umbria (1968) and made the Lungarotti brand renowned world-wide. Prowein will also feature the new vintage of Aurente – Chardonnay di Torgiano DOC, a white with great structure produced with pure Chardonnay and a new packaging characterized by a more enveloping label and an elegant, premium bottle. But there will also be L’Um Umbria IGT Rosso 2019, based on Merlot and Sangiovese, an intriguing and harmonious wine particularly appreciated in Germany, starting with its name expressing love for Lungarotti’s Umbria (indeed, L’Um derives its name from the initials of “L’Umbria”).

There will also be the chance to taste the wines from Lungarotti’s Montefalco Estate, cultivated organically since 2010 and certified organic in 2014, with a focus on Ilbio – Umbria IGT Rosso 2020 and Montefalco Sagrantino 2018, a red with excellent structure, balance and great power that reveals the extraordinary uniqueness of the Sagrantino grape, the king of Montefalco’s varietals that usually produces very structured and complex wines; however,  when vinified at lower temperatures which limit extraction this varietal succeeds in producing very pleasant wines with great drinkability.

Lungarotti will be present at Prowein from May 15th to 17th, in Hall 16 – Stand F03.

Lungarotti is a historic Umbrian winery founded in Torgiano by Giorgio Lungarotti and now headed by his daughters Chiara and Teresa, assisted by their mother Maria Grazia and Giorgio’s grandchildren Francesco and Gemma. Today it totals 250 hectares of vineyards situated in the Torgiano Estate (230 ha, VIVA certification since 2018) and the one in Montefalco (20 ha, organically cultivated since 2010) in which the viticulture practised is based on sustainability and biodiversity. Between the two sites, there are 29 different labels, among which are Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG, one of the best Italian reds, and Rubesco – Rosso di Torgiano DOC, a profound expression of Umbria.
