Now in its sixth edition, the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo prize for journalism promotes media attention for this extraordinary region and its impressive wines
Milan, April 2022 – Wine is the expression of innumerable stories: of families, production areas, landscapes, and life-choices. This is why the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo created the international journalism award “Words of Wine – Parole di vino”. The award, this year in its sixth edition, aims to showcase the skills of the many journalists who have found in the stories of Abruzzo’s wines, people and life an opportunity to talk about this incredible land. Abruzzo is home to the great Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, but also produces other DOC wines, including the much loved rosé Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. Nor can we forget the elegant white Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of its elevation to DOC status, and excellences such as Pecorino and Passerina.
“Our region, acknowledged as being the greenest in Europe, is loved and visited every year by many journalists from all over the world, who come with the desire to discover its many faces, and end up becoming its ambassadors”, explained Valentino di Campli, President of the Consorzio. “This award, which finally returns after a three-year absence, aims to showcase journalism that has paid homage to Abruzzo and its winemaking culture”.
The awards will be given to journalists from online and offline media and television, selected by a specialized technical jury from a shortlist of candidates deemed worthy of consideration. The competition is open to all types of journalism published or broadcast over the last year in one of the EU countries, which have talked about Abruzzo, its people, art and nature in relation to the region’s wines. The competition has three sections: press (newspapers and periodicals), TV and radio, and the web.
The awards ceremony will be held on 8 June in Abruzzo.
