April 21st – (Napa – CALIF.) — Napa Valley Wine Academy (NVWA), America’s Premier Wine School, has announced that the application period has opened for several scholarships designed to make professional wine education widely accessible. The scholarships, established by creating partnerships with like-minded organizations, further the academy’s mission of promoting diversity in the wine industry, as well as opportunities for wine education for all.

“Through partnerships with progressive organizations in the wine world, we continue to put the student at the center of everything that we do. Creating opportunities for free education for a wide array of applicants is just one of our many objectives to strengthen diversity and inclusivity in the wine industry,” said NVWA CEO and Co-founder Christian Oggenfuss adding that applications are now being accepted online at NapaValleyWineAcademy.com/scholarships with closing date deadlines in June. The scholarships that have opened for application include:

Somm Foundation

With a mission to assist in the education and professional development of people working in the wine and spirits business, SommFoundation helps professionals develop their skills, knowledge, and competency through scholarships, mentorships and enrichment opportunities. Association of African-American Vintners

The AAAV Scholarship Program is open to BIPOC or anyone who is committed to actively improving diversity in the wine industry. Thirty-four scholarships are available at all WSET levels, plus Business of Wine and American Wine Expert.

Wine Unify

With the generous assistance of sponsors, including Napa Valley Wine Academy, Wine.com, Coravin, and Jancisrobinson.com, among others, Wine Unify is offering a variety of education-based awards for aspiring and existing minority wine professionals to help strengthen diversity in our industry.
