Wine Sommelier Bertil Jean-Chronberg Introduces His Unique Take on the Art of Wine at Harvard Square’s Premier Wine and Accessory Store

Cambridge, Mass. (Arpil 12, 2022) – Bonde Fine Wine Shop, the wine and accessory concept store in Harvard Square by Boston hospitality veteran and internationally recognized sommelier Bertil-Jean Chronberg, has now expanded its offerings to in-person public tasting events, wine classes and private events programs.

As the mastermind behind celebrated projects such as the Beehive and Beat Hotel, Jean-Chronberg brings the same level of cultural and technical expertise to Bonde Fine Wine Shop as he did to his previous projects, but now intends to disrupt the industry further by introducing drinkers to a one-of-a-kind wine shop concept, eco-responsible wine selection, neo-artisanal wine accessories for both wine lovers and professionals alike, books and wines magazines, clothing, and an intimate space for events including winemakers nights, wine tastings, wine education, private events and pop-up happenings such as a live podcast. Also available to the public are private consultations for a personalized wine curation.

Since opening Bonde Fine wine Shop during the pandemic in July 2021, Jean-Chronberg has been cultivating a dedicated local clientele. Although the in-store experience is unlike any other, Bonde Fine Wine Shop’s orbit is rapidly expanding to accommodate the demand of non-locals with its new e-commerce platform, forthcoming podcast, “And if the World Is Not Flat,” an extensive website including its highly opinionated monthly wine newsletters “0-2-Wine-3-8.” recipe collection with wine pairings, “Casserole and Sommelier,” and Bertil’s Blog, “Drink Against the Current.” Additionally, Bonde Fine Wine Shop serves as a home base for his philanthropy, the Black Donkey Project, which supports national organizations such as No Kid Hungry and Boston’s Pan-Mass Challenge.

Bertil has a revolutionary concept of the “seven senses of wine,” as well as a wine’s molecular properties and relationship to soil. At Bonde he offers a wine selection structured by categories of “wine to sofa”, “wine to table,” and “wine to occasion.” This unique way of categorizing wine is mirrored online to provide customers the same personalized experience as they would in the shop.

The Bonde Fine Wine certification label offers the guarantee that the products available meet the standards of high quality and authenticity, but also are sourced uniquely from eco-responsible practices like, sustainable, biodynamic, organic, and natural, as well as to respect the standards of the circular economy, prioritizing local producers. This core value is why more than 95% of the selection focuses on American micro-wineries who practice an “authors’ wine” philosophy.

Many of the wines offered are available exclusively at Bonde for the Massachusetts market, and the accessories are handmade and sourced from passionate artisans such as Mark Thomas’ crystal wine glassware and Laguiole corkscrews from Fontenille Pataud, Perceval, Ligne W, or Chateau Laguiole. Some of these objects are made custom exclusively for Bonde including, the sustainably sourced swordfish tusk or blue poplar sommelier’s corkscrew.
