Featuring “The Copper” Pinot Grigio
SONOMA, CA (March 29, 2022) —La Prenda is pleased to announce new Spring Release Wines! These wines are available on the new Spring Tasting Menu ($20) as well as for purchase online.
Fifth Hill 2021 Pinot Grigio “The Copper” ($35)
The Copper – This wine is an homage to the traditional northern Italian wine style called ‘ramato’ from the Italian ‘rame’ meaning copper. Pinot Grigio is, by nature, a greyish pink skinned wine. To produce a ramato style wine we ferment these grapes (the same exact ones that go into our La Prenda Pinot Grigio) on their skins, and then protected from oxygen, we age it on the skins for an entire month. This gives the wine more depth and richness of flavor than a standard Pinot Grigio and makes the wine exceptionally food friendly.
“The inspiration for this wine came from an Italian friend born and raised in Friuli, where this very traditional style has its home,” says winemaker Mike Cox. “Looking for a way to introduce another layer of complexity to our Pinot Grigio and having done similar things with our Sauvignon Blanc, we were talking and tasting several wines from his hometown. I was struck by the depth these wines exhibited and wanted to try this with our Napa Valley fruit to showcase this rustic style. I love the copper hue, the intense fruit on offer, and the textural components of the mouth feel.”

95476 2021 Sauvignon Blanc ($18)
Bright citrus and ripe tropical fruit flavors with refreshing acidity and gentle floral aromas. The MacLeod Vineyard and its exposed rocky knoll offers up ripe tropical fruit flavors while the cooler sites in southern Sonoma (the Hi-Vista vineyard) contribute the refreshing acidity that ties this wine together.
La Prenda 2021 Rose of Pinot Noir ($20)
This Rosé has fresh flavors of raspberry and strawberry with a dry refreshing finish. Perfect for a spring garden party served with a medley of vegetables and dips!
At La Prenda’s Tasting Room, located at 535 1st Street West (next to The Red Grape), visitors can enjoy a 5-wine tasting flight while learning about their wines and grape growing in Sonoma Valley. Flights start at $20/person with the Sonoma Valley Tasting, $25/person for the Signature Tasting, and $35/person for the Reserve and Library Tasting.
